Yes I am taking it with a pinch of salt for now. It's a name that dropped onto my lap but it's NOT from the same bloke who told me about Drager, Lowe and Garner.
He seems to be a German merry go round manager, albeit in the top division there. Think I'd prefer to see a lesser known manager.

That is a different question entirely. But Dane has certainly appointed 2 excellent managers in recent times. Struber set the foundations and it continued. When your last 2 have both been pinched that is not a bad place to be, you know you are doing something right.
You're right, if the big boys start taking an interest you're doing things well. I know little about Strubar but if he'd not been lucky and come up against a pathetic Forest side on the second to last game of the season and got his team relegated, would he still be regarded as being an 'excellent' manager?
This is what's on his Wikipedia page re his Barnsley time:
'On 20 November 2019, Struber was appointed as manager of EFL Championship side Barnsley, penning a two-year deal. He succeeded Daniel Stendel.[3][4] Barnsley were bottom of the league, seven points away from safety. They were consigned to the relegation zone for most of the 2019–20 campaign. With two stoppage time wins against Nottingham Forest and Brentford at the end of the season, Struber guided Barnsley to securing Championship football for a second successive season. It was helped by Wigan Athletic falling into administration and getting 12 points deduction. For the 2020–21 season Struber strived to get a stable team, as he did not want to be in the relegation zone again and had ambitious goals for the future of the club.'
Was he good or just lucky?
I really rate struber and going back on different threads when we were on the verge of sacking Sabri, that I would of liked to of seen him here.
When you watched what he was trying to implement at Barnsley is something I could buy in to. You could see it. He got lucky with the 12 point deduction absolutely hedid, but that does not detract from the foundations he tried to build and play the type of football he did.
Very much in your face high tempo football with the emphasis on winning the ball back as high up the field as possible to increase scoring opportunities. I liked what I saw and clearly others did too in terms of the red bull brigade.
But you cannot say his 2 appointments were not good ones. To turn 7 points around regardless of circumstance is a success.
Happy to take your word for it then MR. You clearly know much much more about him/them than I do.
So it seems that Ishmael was Dane's replacement manager who stat's suited the style of football / player already established at Barnsley. What do we reckon he'll build on at our club because our recent style, developed over the last two managers, is one of steady, defensive, low scoring football. Not something to build on really. Will he try to change the philosophy and go high energy/press like he did at Barnsley?
Absolutely mate, that is where continuity comes in that suits your style and transfer policy so a change of manager causes as less impact as possible because you have recruited players and managers to a style of play.
So it allows you to grow and not have to rip up the blueprint every time you lose a manager as you recruit to suit the philosophy already in existence.
It will take a bit of time for that here, as we have performed the low block for so long now it will take a change in mentality from the players too, that is why I do not think hughton fits in either. The philosophy and his approach do not align.
Let's see how we go.

Another name I have heard mentioned in different circles is Damir Canadi but once again it's to be taken with a pinch of salt for now.

Damir Canadi is an interesting one because I know that EM likes him and he was in the frame to become Olympiakos manager about 3 years ago before he went to Nuremburgh.
He's Austrian and of Serb/Croation descent and currently works in Austria.
He did a great job in Greece with Atromitos who are a tiny team from Athens. He took them into Europe.
There will be loads of people in the frame though of course.

As its his club, I think he has every right to at least make recommendations to the clubs board though

Thats my take on it too McForest, it really should be Murphy’s choice although I accept EM would have to approve. Any decision will give us a gauge as to who the power really lies with.

Yip it is his club. He owns it and he can do with it what he likes. i get that. However as the owner you employ staff to carry out the work on your behalf. If we were to appoint a new manager then it should be on the CEO's, Sports directors etc shoulders. They need to have their man in not someone they are told to work with by those above them. The CEO has been brought in because EM must like his vision (or else why change) so it's about letting the CEO bring that to life.
EM has the right and should in this case be in the background and say look Forest fans i have changed the thinking by bring in this new CEO and team that are young hungry and dynamic and what happens for now is on them as i trust them going forward.
Edit i forgot to include that this is all rumour and we don't know of any on goings we are all just chatting about a hypothetical situation for which there is no fact and the chances are we are well left field and that is how EM wants it work.
