We have some very good players… He won't get the present squad top 10 but with some tinkering it would be interesting to see where Nuno could possibly take us. We know he is capable there is evidence of that. Yet the set up has stayed the same for most of the season. 3 zonal being the best headers and then men markers. We’ve been less than crap at it. We have no leadership in the team. The lack of the organisation that brings at set pieces is also evident when we are trying to defend a lead. We play like a team of individuals. One commanding figure could make an enormous difference. RE: Nuno Espirito Santo - Salvatore Matrecano - 03-05-2024 We had a leader who was a defender and who would die for the cause, that person was also man of the match in one of our 2 away wins at Chelsea earlier in the season. However our fan base decided he was shit and we sent him out on loan. I think it's pretty clear there was more to it than that behind the scenes. People have alluded to stuff without saying directly what he did but it doesn't seem like he was as great as you say. If anything I'd argue he traded heavily on the fact he did come through the academy in his latter days. Never struck me as overly loyal based on the way he acted throughout his time, particularly when compared to Ryan Yates. He tried to force his way out numerous times when in the championship according to previous ITK posts for example. Also, worth noting he pretty much cost us a 4 point swing to Luton before he fell out of favour. Have you noticed thst the team has stopped being leaked since he left the club? That's been a problem for a couple of years he's not been gone that long. RE: Nuno Espirito Santo - ToryTom - 03-05-2024 Tomorrow is D day. Nothing less than a victory will do especially if Luton win tonight. Beating Chelsea is far from a given. There current form is as good as anybody’s and they have tons of quality. Tomorrow’s game is where it matters and the manager and players need to step up to the plate. These are the must win games by which managers are judged. Cooper Forest teams stepped up in games which really mattered. Now is the time for Nuno to earn his corn. That bit is true sadly. I do agree he showed some questionable behaviour at times, just think he was the on pitch leader that we miss, also he is a better defender than some like to give him credit for. A lot of nonsense was talked about him being the source of all our soft goals which clearly wasn’t the case. I agree he was a bit underrated as a player but would you really be starting him now over the current starters? He reminds me of Harry Maguire a bit actually, great in the air, can step out but struggled when asked to do more playing just as a 2. If we had stuck with wingbacks he'd have more value.
