I'd give Dennis a go from the start and put Awoniyi in up-front. Against Spurs we created a couple of chances but didn't have that central presence to take them.

This certainly shows how the squad building was necessary but also how successful it has been (on paper anyway). The twenty I've named there doesn't include Niakhate, Richards, Bade, Mangala, Colback and Cafu.

Oh, or Aurier (presuming he signs).

Any reason why MGW over Brennan?

I think Reds team will almost certainly be the actual starting lineup. I mean Cooper didn't sign Lingard and MGW as marquee signings to bench them.

I am not convinced by the Yates and O'Brien combination.

Can't wait for Mangala to come back in and hopefully pair him with Freuler.

I think MGW offers something different from our other options in those positions. He plays clever little passes which I'd hope Dennis and/or Awoniyi would be able to pick up on. I know Johnson would probably be able to do the same too, would just like to see Dennis start to really see what he can do.

Central midfield was a difficult choice too. I think O'Brien deserves to keep his place but couldn't decide who to pair him with. I didn't see the Grimsby game so I'm not sure on what Freuler's strengths are. If he's not a ball-winner then who does that role?

O’Brien is the new Ben Osborn

Neat and tidy, buzzes around like a duracell bunny, but does he actually do much? Discuss.

I don't like to single people out but we are not going anywhere with a Yates/O'Brian combination.

It's time now to get our strongest team on the pitch barring injuries, I personally don't believe that we have done that yet.

Is Mangala fit though?

RE: Nottingham Forest - Bournemouth - Salvatore Matrecano - 02-09-2022

^ I tend to agree.
Freuler has by some distance the best CV of any of our midfield. Whether he is as good in practice I have yet to see but would like him to start.
Despite all our incomings and him being not the best technically I still think Yates offers something the others cant.

We might get away with Yates and O'Brien tomorrow against Bournemouth but Yates and O'Brien against the top sides will get battered.

On paper and looking at it from a pedigree point of view, then Freuler and Mangala are our best 2.
However, Mangala prob not back until Leeds and Bournemouths main threat will be aerially with Solanke, Moore and Billing.

Therefore Yates defending set pieces and aerially is stronger than Freuler for this game.

I would also go Freuler and Yates, in my opinion you're picking Yates for his ability to get into the penalty area rather than his distribution.

RE: Nottingham Forest - Bournemouth - northeastred - 02-09-2022

Rumours on twitter that a team sheet has been released.

Chieck and Yates as the cms

Mgw Jesse johnno as the attacking 3

37m worth of strikers on the bench, thought we played our best game at West ham with taiwo up top, always looks lively, shame he's not starting

Kouyate and Yates seems pretty unlikely to me.
