Nope, being given Gunnarson and Sonner as adequate replacements was worse. I agree. Still no permanent outfield signings with 5-ish days to go. :) SA. A collymore comes along once in a blue moon. let's hope so, starts to seasons like this should be once in a blue moon but successive seasons and this season seems potentially much, much worse the day starts off ok with quite a few transfer rumours zipping around ... to end in nothing again i think i'll have a complete timeout tomorrow, maybe till saturday i felt sort of optimistic this morning but that same old sinking into a very dark abyss feeling tonight RE: Your Thoughts On The Current Nottingham Forest Manager - Marinakis Red - 26-08-2021 (25-08-2021, 10:26 PM)Strawberry Avenger Wrote:(25-08-2021, 08:38 PM)Salvatore Matrecano Wrote:(25-08-2021, 08:01 PM)Strawberry Avenger Wrote:(25-08-2021, 07:37 PM)Marinakis Red Wrote:(25-08-2021, 07:22 PM)Strawberry Avenger Wrote: Other stats will show he's the worst backed manager ever. He had his team last year. What did he do with it? They were good damn awful. They were loans so it does not count? We looked less of a team at the end of the season than we did at the start of it. Agree with SA here. You can't build a side around loans, it's bollocks. They've always got one eye on their next move, and are usually the first to give up the ghost when the going gets tough, well aware they won't be there for it to matter to them anyway in a few months. Hughton isn't the man for us, his tactics and methods deserve criticism, but he has been royally shafted. Only NFFC could employ a manager who's never finished outside the top 4 in a full Champ season, and not let him sign one permanent outfield player in almost a year :D That totally sums up our incredibly short sighted approach to everything football over the past 20 odd years. RE: Your Thoughts On The Current Nottingham Forest Manager - Salvatore Matrecano - 26-08-2021 Disagree Alf. The short sighted approach in my opinion is the one that does give a manager free reign and let him bring all his buddies in, only to sack him a few months later then you end up with a load of unhappy players who cannot work with the next guy and your new bomb squad. Imagine if we had let Hughton sign Knockaert for £10M. He would probably have said yes to the deal. The sensible approach is to build a young hungry squad with a style of play and then you bring in the manager that fits that ethos. I realise that is the head coach model that we tried with Sabri, it looked good for a while, with a coherent plan behind it still think its the best way. Result wise and entertainment wise. Name his team of permanent signings. Go on. What team of 11 players did Hughton have 'of his' last year that he signed on for the poison chalice? He didn't bring in any players last Summer. He brought in a loan. Had to wait until the January window to band aid last Summer's dart board recruitment. He brought in? Murray. Garner. Krov'. Mere patchwork for the recruitment problems Forest made for themselves previously when Hughton wasn't here. None of whom were permanent (and Garner and Krov' going back has proven damaging to the team because we're weaker without them and it's shown in the start to the season.) Still waiting on that striker. Hardly sets up any manager for free flowing football. SA. (No PERMANENT outfield(!) signings in his year here. Disgraceful. Shabby treatment.) A manager's job is to make best use of the players he has available. Players can be flexible in their approach too. He had a huge number of players last year to choose from - why couldn't they become 'his' players through good management? What do you expect him to do, sign a complete team from his previous Brighton and Newcastle squads?!? This whole he didn't get to bring in any permanent signings is nonsense. He had plenty of players available to do the jobs he wanted. Fact is, he wasn't able to get them playing well enough together. The one part of the team he didn't have a huge amount of riches was CF, or is he part of the reason that Grabban and Taylor haven't fired?? The start of this season has been difficult for him as we let so many go and have yet to bring in replacements, but he hasn't had that hard a time over the past year. RE: Your Thoughts On The Current Nottingham Forest Manager - PsychoStanleyStone - 26-08-2021 come on SA, this whole debate is ridiculous it's good you believe in this man, continue doing so, we could be about to embark on a 10 game winning run but you are conceding really it won't happen, the utopian scenario of managers shopping for a squad of players has never really happened last season he could make 5 changes, even in our meagre situation there are lots of potential breakthrough players and last season he also had 14 players in addition despite significant if not huge resources available to Hughton last season he didn't really integrate young players into the side, chucking a load of kids in occassionally isn't sufficient and it virtually never happened last season, if anything the opposite a managers job is to have some vision, he isn't a visionary, he certainly isn't looking at new ways to approach game or game management when the approach is dull and not working and repetitive and cautious it's really beyond a joke and this defence of 'not his players' stuff doh a good manager integrates and develops what he has right here right now and last season his lack of foresight and develpment has sabotaged this season |
