We had nobody in the centre of the pitch that could put there foot on the ball to relieve the pressure. Yates and Colback cannot be a regular thing come the end of August. That combo is not a combo we will do well with, otherwise more struggles like we saw yesterday will be witnessed week in week out. I think I'd prefer to play 4411 just because that's where Hughton has had success previously. Obviously we do not have the central midfielders to play that right now, Garner would really make a big difference to that option. Play to your strengths for me as a manager. Not a criticism I'm just not sure he can create a progressive 433! If we had some decent strikers I'd happily play 442! :D RE: New CEO Is Dane Murphy - Marinakis Red - 09-08-2021 (09-08-2021, 11:02 AM)TheGreenMan Wrote:(09-08-2021, 10:45 AM)Marinakis Red Wrote: I hope at the end of the window we are a more progressive team with more quality on the ball to prevent yesterdays second half capitulation. I'm kind of hoping more than anything mate, if we landed garner and flemming we would have the option to go 433. RE: New CEO Is Dane Murphy - JollyLolly - 09-08-2021 I think the main problem as far as I am concerned is the way CH plays the game. I can take the constant rebuilding scenario and selling of quality home nurtured talent, however want I really want is to be entertained, watch good & positive front foot flowing football. I can then sit back when we have been beaten and say we tried our best at that time and in the knowledge that we will continue to improve and eventually become a quality football team, once again proud to support and have opposition fans jealous of our club & players. Its never going to happen with CH as the saying goes "a leopard never changes his spots" like quite a few forum members on here have remarked, CH will be gone before Christmas. A big IF with Garner RE: New CEO Is Dane Murphy - wassy04 - 09-08-2021 (09-08-2021, 11:35 AM)JollyLolly Wrote: I think the main problem as far as I am concerned is the way CH plays the game. Yeah I do get this mentality. However firstly, I can't ever think of a time we've been like that? Paul Hart days maybe? Secondly, how many other clubs are like this around? This isn't an excuse, just shows how hard it is to play like that. Also, CH's teams that have done well do have a record of scoring lots of goals so I'm guessing they were positive at that point, we just don't have the players for that right now. For the record, I would've preferred to see someone more attack minded, mainly as it gives them a bit more breathing room with the fans, which does make a big difference in my opinion. Also as Peterborough show, it's really easy to inflate the value of your attacking players by scoring loads of goals! Regardless of defensive statistics. The last time someone tried to be attacking though, everyone wanted rid of him pretty quickly too I seem to remember too! You weren't entertained by Mighten constantly running at Coventry? Or Brennan's lung busting run to slide in the cross for Lyle to bury? (The best goal have scored in some time.) As for tactics. It got Southgate to the final. SA. People got fed up of Warburton playing tippy tappy football. They were bored of it because Forest were losing and below half way and had a crap Christmas. The last time we had any one that one or two are asking for was Paul Hart. And the last time we had a brand of robust pragmatic attacking was Davies. And they didn't like him because he was a naughty boy. Most teams are setting up 4231 now. It was good enough for Southgate to get his team to the finals. And they would have won the final if not for (ironically) a scruffy goal. (A bit like the two crap and scruffy goals that Cov' scored yesterday.) But to play attack minded football, you need to recruit. And Forest are in 'transit' regarding targets. It must be embarrassing for Hughton to have to go back to Bong and Lyle Taylor and ask them to play. And even Soh was ahead of Figs in the pecking order yesterday. But Figs had to play because Worrall and Soh got injured. And Grabban was ill. You couldn't make it up. Give Hughton the players to play attacking football and goals. And you'll see? Attacking football and goals. His record at Brighton and Newcastle show what can be done. If Forest can get those targets in. Like the new CEO said? 'A slow market.' SA. We've a small vocal minority of mangina's who dilute the club and local area with their spoiled, never happy attitude. If Clough was here now that same minority would be wanting him gone for his alcoholism/bungs/arrogance etc. RE: New CEO Is Dane Murphy - Strawberry Avenger - 09-08-2021 (09-08-2021, 07:12 PM)Alf Wrote:(09-08-2021, 12:23 PM)Strawberry Avenger Wrote: *nodding at the comments here. I remember well the section of Forest crowd that chanted, 'Pull your finger out, Brian!' as Forest sat tenth after an indifferent start. That's gratitude for you. SA.
