One or two have mentioned Figs pass for the penalty but I see that nobody has mentioned Bongs pass to Murray for the opening goal, unfortunately that doesn't surprise me though.

Bong also put his head in yesterday, he almost got his head taken off twice by a boot. Plus that absolute peach of a cross for that Knockaert chance.

Delivery has definitely improved.

Chris tends to give players a run in the side. It has helped with the likes of Figs and Bong. Now he's including Freeman as the only way he'll get fit is to play and that's the only way we'll get to see the real Freeman.

Who would have thought a manager bringing in his own players would make such a difference..?

SA.

I've watched that a number of times. It's a punt into a channel, which Murray does well to (a) win and (b) make a chance from. Would not score highly as an expected assist.

Don't get me wrong; Bong is more effective than I originally thought. Ribeiro isn't as effective as last year (system? other reasons?), but the upshot is that I think we'll need a new Left Back next season if we want to challenge for the playoffs.

Will Bong ever get any credit for anything?

So it wasn't a pass it was a punt.

What about the brave headers he went in for in front of a flying boot (twice) and that peach of a cross for the knockaert chance.

I thought it was right he kept the place Sniff and thought he did ok yesterday. The problem for him is that Freeman gives him no protection. That'll improve and so will he.

So many in the forum want to criticise.

yes, they are all good solid work. I have no issue with Bong. But let's be realistic about the quality of the pass for the first goal.

I think of the assist like this. If we played that pass 100 times, how many times would we score a goal? 10? The defender marking Murray missed the flight of the ball / Murray pushed him (fair enough). Most centre halves in this league would mop that up and the chance is lost.

Compare that with Lolley's assist for the 3rd goal; we'd score that 60-75 times from the pass.

Which is the better assist?

I agree. I raised my head above the parapet recently to say Bong is showing signs that theres a good player in there-and continued this yesterday. Thought he did quite well especially s he is left exposed by Freeman on occasions and opponents seem to be overloading that area quite a bit at moment. (Credit to Garner as well for reacting to this.)

My worry is that following a particularly bad injury, we are seeing the real Freeman.

Building up fitness.  Aye.  Some quality today.

SA.

The bar wasnt too high though tbf. Dont think he did anywhere near enough to be a real positive. In fact I think he leaves our (not exactly top draw) left back exposed.

I'm a big believer that players need to do the job the manager asks them to do. I'm not convinced on this one. I would say 5 out of 10 today (as did Evening Post), which is an improvement on his normal performance for us I suppose.

Really hope we dont sign him permanently. Left side options for next year Lolley or Johnson?

On the other hand Knockeart seems to have come out of his poor run of form (Going back to last half of last season at Fulham) and has looked the part last few games. Long may that continue.

Knocker like Colback and Freeman arrived having been out of the picture.

Hughton had the confidence to bring him and stick with him.

Adding Jan's work to Knocker has made Knocker even more compelling.  He was quality before and today he really put a shift in and scored a peach.

SA.

Fair play, until recently he's been nothing but a show pony. Recent performances very much like his Brighton form. Long may it continue.

I've mentioned elsewhere, never been convinced by Freeman even when the was fit at other clubs.

If and when we next hit a dodgy patch, we need to trust Hughton. He has never been a massive instant impact manager, more of a build a decent side progressively type of guy. As poor as Wycombe are, on the ball we looked decent today. Hope we stuff Bournemouth to back up these recent results against lower teams.

That is they key mate, we have picked up 35% of our whole points tally against 2 sides in the league, Coventry and Wycombe, really intrigued to see how we look on the ball against ballmouth, see how far we have come and the true impact of the new players on the shape and composure of the team.

That's a mad stat! Though we normally drop points to lower end clubs, so just a role reversal...

We won’t beat other teams with them 2 at the base of midfield far too lightweight
