RE: Nottingham Forest - Luton Town - optimistic_red - 03-03-2021 Last night was disappointing. We are not good at scoring goals, and even worse when trying to play from behind. It's been the same for a year (or more) now, so I don't put all the blame with Houghton. In hindsight 442 didn't work, but at the time you can understand why he'd try it. The biggest disappointment for me was just how little fight we showed. Was it energy levels, lack of fans, poor management, poor training? I don't know. They put a massive shift in in the first half and so when we needed to go up a gear and press at the end the tank was empty. That was a big factor imo. But all arguments lead to a lack of goals when dominating the game. RE: Nottingham Forest - Luton Town - Tricky - 03-03-2021 Last night was a very bad day at the office. With the exceptions of Worrall and Garner, nobody really impressed greatly. Even Krov was guilty of giving the ball away too cheaply, as well as Cafu, although both did put in a shift. Knockaert, maybe tried too hard as he was very ineffective compared to previous matches. He did have a few nice touches but on the whole disapointting. Lolley just didn't inspire me at all. Murray gets into the box to attack crosses, something we have been lacking this season, but again, very ineffective on the night. Garner put in a decent shift. Figs looked like his confidence has taken another hit. He was very lame, even in the first half and seemed scared to just welly the ball. Samba? Could he have done better with the goal? possibly, but I don't know. His distribution after the goal was shocking and twice nearly gave the ball away to the opposition in dangerous areas. The biggest worry is the amount of shots on target. Yes, their keeper made a couple of decent saves, but nothing else really bothered him. Lets just hope that last night was just one of those nights and we put it behind us and beat Watford on saturday :shy: RE: Nottingham Forest - Luton Town - Salvatore Matrecano - 03-03-2021 Fine margins isnt it (I am Mark Warburton). Had Murray put away the sitter in the first half we would either have held on for 1-0 or at least have got a draw. We would say great 1st half, disappointing 2nd but no matter the CH revolution rolls on. Instead we get the usual self immolation for a 0-1 defeat. Tough run of games coming up, lets see where we are after then. RE: Nottingham Forest - Luton Town - ThePromisedLand - 03-03-2021 If Murray had put one of several chances away we’d have gone on to win the game. I’m still baffled at Hughton’s substitutions. Clearly at 1-0 down something had to be done. I have to disagree with some on here & believe that Lolley didn’t deserve to be hooked. He looked good in the first half and although Knockaert had a poor game the two of them supplied enough ammunition for the centre forward to have won the match. With two primarily defensive midfielders on the pitch I would’ve thought that one of them should’ve been the prime candidate to be taken off - to be replaced by Freeman or with a winger coming on & Lolley moving inside alongside Krovinovic. Whatever Hughton tried it blatantly didn’t work & the last 20 minutes probably represented our most ineffective football of the season - and that’s saying something. RE: Nottingham Forest - Luton Town - Salvatore Matrecano - 03-03-2021 Think the problem was trying 442. We lost control of midfield and stopped creating topped by our front 2 looking like they had just met. Changing formation mid game and throwing on an extra striker hasnt worked for us for as long as I can remember. RE: Nottingham Forest - Luton Town - audiosmee - 03-03-2021 So disappointed- Luton looked like a pub team at times- their CBS were there for the taking if the press had been kept up. The tempo in the first half was spot on, if lacking a killer edge. 2-3 goals and we’d be taking a very different story. 2 of the central midfield 3 are loans. Players out of contract and loans finishing- so much rebuilding needed. If we think it’s spinning the cash on a striker we need, we’d be buying a gun with no ammo! That one against Rotherham where Grabban went round the keeper then fell over, surely? Laughing (tears of pain) just thinking about it RE: Nottingham Forest - Luton Town - wassy04 - 03-03-2021 Just read through this thread, only takes one bad half for all the negativity to return. I notice it was a lot more active than on some victories. Maybe people just need to let off steam when we lose? A few comments: - Greenman's ridiculous complaint that we didn't make subs when we were on top (so HT?) What are you on about? The subs just proved once again that making subs is not the best and end all. Maybe try and remember this when he doesn't make subs in another game. Calling him spineless for making changes makes no sense though. - We are terrible at finishing, we've known this for a while. That Murray miss was so bad. - We tired badly second half and whilst I get its the same for everyone, it's fairly clear we don't have a good squad. We've broadly played the same team for the last few weeks and they pushed hard vs Derby. Understandable this would catch up on us at some point. Remember Christie plays every min of every game for example. - Disappointing night but doesn't suddenly erase the clear recent progress. - Would be nice for some of the midfielders to offer a goal threat to take the pressure off our underperformed strikers. Looking at you Knockaert and Krov. Everyone chill out, I expect we'll be back on it on Saturday. Dominating and then conceding a late goal ? "Can't believe he's just gone like for like what's that change" How about no subs? "Can't believe he's made no changes, it's clearly not working. Need to freshen it up" How about a change in formation and an extra attacker? "That never works, we never play this formation" Seriously what would you like him to do mid game when we're losing? Or just never go behind again? I'm sorry but that game is not on CH, we battered them first half and missed a load of chances. Not saying his changes worked but I don't think anything would've done. Unless he's bringing himself on up top, not sure what else he can do. RE: Nottingham Forest - Luton Town - Colnago - 03-03-2021 (02-03-2021, 11:38 PM)ozzyten10 Wrote: That was a kick in the teeth. I thought Luton were poor first half then sniffed blood after their first meaningful effort and targeted our right centre half!Regards the wingers i think your spot on, I wouldn’t want to see Knockeart back |
