RE: Our Goalkeepers - wassy04 - 11-10-2022 Feels like it's time for this discussion. 10 goals conceded from outside the area, 7 consecutive games is an incredible stat. I can't imagine any other team is close to that. So, are we sensationally unlucky, terrible at closing down or is it at the feet of the keeper. Imagine it's a bit of all 3. I can't remember all 10 but for example, last night I'd put on Henderson. Barnes goal for Leicester, could he have got into a better spot? Bournemouth one was just a miracle hit, that was bad luck that such a low % strike goes in. Anymore? RE: Our Goalkeepers - Paplane - 11-10-2022 I think it's a bit harsh criticising the keeper after what's been going on in front of him. And which keeper wouldn't be suffering from a lack of confidence after the goals we've conceded over the last month? People are Samba was better, what would his state of mind be after this run? He's be a nightmare. Hughton dropped him after our bad run this time last season. He was rubbish. RE: Our Goalkeepers - Salvatore Matrecano - 11-10-2022 Watch Henderson though, slow to dive on too many occasions and beaten at the near post last night. His kicking was diabolical too. Agree the defence/midfield should be closing down more chances but you cant tell me that in all of those 10 goals the keeper was blame free. His kicking was diabolical too. Probably not blame free, no, I agree with that. But he's not in droppable territory yet. And agree about the kicking. The part of his game was sound at the beginning of the season. Not so now. Can only be confidence. Pickford is easily number one on current form, distribution and performances for England. RE: Our Goalkeepers - tugger2018 - 11-10-2022 I can’t argue RE: Our Goalkeepers - wassy04 - 11-10-2022 (11-10-2022, 11:40 AM)Paplane Wrote:(11-10-2022, 11:26 AM)Salvatore Matrecano Wrote: Watch Henderson though, slow to dive on too many occasions and beaten at the near post last night. His kicking was diabolical too. How many more long range goals though? We've lost points in even matches due to this a few times now as well as momentum. I think we win yesterday if that doesn't go in, they only created one other chance (admittedly he made a great save!) RE: Our Goalkeepers - Salvatore Matrecano - 12-10-2022 Behind a paywall, can anyone tell me the gist of it? Suspect it might be the xG of all those shots is very low. I know what I see when I watch Henderson though, he can be slow to react on occasion. Most of them were basically great strikes, it estimates Henderson could've saved 2-3 of them based on stats. Which probably rings true with what I've seen. The one vs Villa he was slow although he made a great save later on getting down quickly, makes it more frustrating! As I said on another thread, take away the Villa goal and that Bournemouth one we may have another 5 points and everything looks a little rosier. RE: Our Goalkeepers - Salvatore Matrecano - 04-01-2023 Man Utd signing Jack Butland as No2 keeper. Possibly pushes Henderson further down the pecking order there. If we stay up I reckon its a given he signs a perm here in the summer. RE: Our Goalkeepers - Floridared - 04-01-2023 Is he a hundred thousand a week keeper though? I suspect Butland is a lot less expensive than Henderson too. |
