Can someone do the player ratings versus Sheffield Wednesday please.

Do we have to? Honestly nobody is going to come out of it well, there was a collective failing not just any individual. I thought it was telling they didnt even announce a MOM from the sponsor.

Not at all, just dont think it achieves much when the entire team were poor. I would score everyone as a 3.

I will:

Samba 6: not really at fault for any of the goals - decent distribution.
Cash 6: tried and coped reasonably well with Kadeem Harris who has been on fire. Often relied upon to attack too but was well marshalled. Poor cross when he did get free
Dawson 3: terrible. At fault for missing headers and clearances in 3 of the 4 goals
Worrall 4: gave too much space to the strikers
Robinson 3: overran by having 2/3 a layers overloading one his side. Terrible but not helped.
Watson 4: poorest game in a while. Easy possession passing unable to break the lines and cross field passing not as good as previous games. Awful miss for 2:1
Yates 5: got stuck in and ran about but no quality in his play and in possession very ponderous and gave ball away cheaply
Silva 5: moved to left side when Carvalho moved to number 10. At least he tried to help robbo out. Held onto the ball and got caught out when central possibly due to the lackmm no of movement in front.
Carvalho 2: refused to track back when started as a winger. Was moved to favoured number 10 role and did nothing. Nothing at all.
Ameobi 5: worked hard and at least tried.
Grabban 7: professional and can hold his grad high - second half he at least played with a bit of pride. He must be so frustrated playing so isolated.

Sabri: poor selection and tactics. Done over by a robust team that were direct, physical and had a game plan. He did nothing to change things apart from swap carvalho and silva. His refusal to even acknowledge subs could be harmful and why not at least save Grabbans legs for 45 mins?

Thanks Ozzy. Apologies for sounding stroppy refusing to give ratings but I dont think any individual is to blame. I think you were a bit generous with both Samba and Cash, the entire defence was a shambles, some of that has to be down to the organisation from the keeper too. Agree if anyone is blameless it is Grabban. Also think the lack of substitutions were odd simply in terms of resting players. What if Grabban had pulled a hamstring near the end? That would really have completed the day.

SM - I agree to a certain extent. I was probably a bit generous with Samba and cash. I also get why Sabri wanted to make a point but imagine being a sub who can’t get on after that horror show and the need to manage Grabban’s minutes which cost us at Wigan could come and bite us on the arse. He just looked sulky and petulant. It was similar to the Preston Match under Karanka.
I also think and it is just a theory that the players get pissed off when the manager gets so much support from the stands. It happened under Karanka, Pearce and now Sabri.

I thought Samba's distribution wasn't up to his normal standard. On a number of occasions he kicked the ball long up to Carvalho and an isolated Grabban when there was an easy and logical simple pass available to the defender.

He might have been frustrated with the defence's ability to pass the ball on, but clearly we were never able to compete for long balls against a strong Wednesday side. So why did he continue to do it?

I'm not pulling him out, but IMHO, his form has dropped slightly over the last few games. He started to look very slightly suspect in the QPR game and that has continued.

His throws are monstrous and to the man every time. He hit cash and robbo a few times but when he went long carvalho and grabban were too far apart. Compare that with the direct balls played by Sheff Wed. They drew us out then bang hit fletcher with 4 men around him for knock downs and second balls.
We played too deep due to lack of pace of Dawson and then we were too far apart.
It’s gone now - Sabri needs a reaction and hope the next team he picks take their chance. I’d love for Bostock to get another go- a good player in there somewhere.
