I concede a icebath would be great upgrade though as I do them weekly :-)
Need some positivity tonight - fingers crossed.
Do you find they do actually 'shock' the body into healing itself? Almost like an emergency recovery reboot? There must be a reason why the players take ice baths.
ie. You find they make you feel better?
I guess you'd have to build up a tolerance to that eg. 30 sec, 1 min, 5 mins.
Just going into the swimming pool (and when the water level gets up to your crotch...) "******** hell..." (And I'm not one for swearing...)
SA.
It flushes the lymphatic system (even more-so if you do one straight out of a sauna) and with less "toxins" in the body it's able to heal itself quicker.
As part of my medical support treatment I do an infra-red sauna & contrast showers every other day (similar principle). It helps with the body pain tremendously.
The fact that we didn't have one is to me actually pretty scandalous, as it can mean players recover from injury far quicker (if they support it right with other bits & bobs too)
Cheers, Alf. I was curious about it. I've learned something there. As a former Gym Rat it's really useful to know.
Are we saying that Forest don't have ice baths? At all? Anywhere at the City Ground?
Seriously?

They do not shock the body into healing itself directly; an ice bath is beneficial for athletes because it stops the build up of lactic acid, very quickly, and reduces muscle soreness.
They are also very good for the central nervous system and help build up the bodies immune cells, which in turn helps with the healing process.
It can be pretty uncomfortable sat in one, but you feel fantastic afterwards.

It’s amazing only just getting an ice Bath at the ground!

Ty. Information is power.
'Cool' post.
So it reduces inflammation and promotes the immune cells to do their job with turbo boosts the healing process.
It's on my (ice) 'bucket' list.

Dunno if we have one now or not, but in DT's article it says that players came back to half the amount of showers and a hole in the floor where a new ice bath should've been. That's really poor.
I used to have HBOT therapy with a Rotherham player who was recovering from an injury, and it makes me wonder if Forest look into anything like that now.

I think that probably sums things up.
So we've not been on the cutting edge of recruitment.
Or resources.
Or cleaning the City Ground.
Deary, dear, me.

An excellent long read from DT in the Athletic today, its about as close as Sniffer will get to gratitude towards the owners.
Emphasis on Marinakis burning ambition which can be a bit OTT but nothing wrong in that. Ultimately he comes out of the article very well as does Miltos and a couple of nice anecdotes about him which raise a smile.
A few other things, background to Richards injury and the deliberate cover up to get Toff, Widdows moment of fame.
Someone is very much on the naughty step for prematurely leaking Cooper contract discussions
Mendes very much involved again and negotiations on MGW and Lodi
Few criticisms at all very much based on the undeniable steep learning curve and hints that Forest’s PR a bit naive about handling the criticism to transfer activity.
All in all he seems to be aboard the EM train.

Yes I read that this morning too and really enjoyed it. It added a lot of context to the whole summer, even down to the situation with sponsorship. I wish opposing fans would also read it as then we might not have to endure some of the absolute garbage they're coming out with about us now.

He didn't say who stitched him up then by saying that we were signing a player called Jizz, absolute classic.

Yes, if that was a deliberate stitch up fair play, notice he stopped tweeting transfer rumours after that one!

“This signing,” one Forest fan wrote on Twitter, “is for everyone who has experienced Gomis, Djebbour, Akpom, Macheda, Lica, Dumitru, Teixera, Tshibola, Kapino, Dejagah, Hefele, Soudani, Bonatini, Tachtsidis, Muric, Bong, Jenkinson, Da Costa, Diakhaby, Mir, Diallo, Bachirou, Freeman, Arter, Guerrero, Ioannou and more.”
Thought this comment summed everything up nicely for me

A common complaint relates to Forest’s habit of bidding on multiple players, or offering those players big salaries, but then moving on to new targets. The other clubs who want the same players then find that the price has gone up, or that they have to pay higher wages, because that was the proposal Forest put on the table.
This is a great tactic! I hope it f****d over some of our rivals
