The forum has grown in leaps and bounds, I see more and more names appearing in threads. It is working well.
I fully support requiring registration to view the threads but deleting accounts that don't post seems to defeat the purpose of a forum where people get to participate in different ways. Reading is participation.
Perhaps what is needed is to deactivate accounts that have not logged on to the forum for 24 months, this is just to keep the registered users database tidy.
I too think that deleting accounts that post less often or not at all is counter-productive. I rarely post but read this forum often, and enjoy doing so.
Please reconsider.

Whilst I love the way this forum is run - discouraging the irrelevant postings that spoil other forums, I do disagree with the decision to delete user accounts who do not post.
I am in my 70s and am a lifelong Forest supporter, first going to the City Ground in the mid 1950s. I can no longer attend games, and do not therefore feel qualified to voice my opinions publicly. However, I find the forum invaluable to keep up to date with fans' views and gossip. Surely I am doing no harm, and I cannot understand why some posters, who perhaps have not supporterd Forest for half the time I have, nor spent as much money following the team, should complain at fans who, for whatever reason, read but do not post. That doesn't make us any less a Forest fan, or any less a supporter of this excellent forum.

i've been a forest supporter for the last 50 years and i used to goto every home and away matchs. i don't post that often due to not have much time to do so with having to take care of my parents who are now disabled. i also disagree with deleting user accounts who don't post much.

Sniffer, seems to me you have a quality forum, lots of people enjoy reading the quality, pure, unadulterated threads, a few like me post laugh out loud quality stuff but takes away from the underlying debates hence usually gets deleted. I think it would be great if all 1,000 of us all knew loads of stuff and could bring something to the party but it's difficult but you have a relatively unique scenario in forum world of pure quality threads and lots of readers, i know it won't happen but 'likes' give everyone a way to contribute, only dislikes caused the problems before. Either way you got an amazing audience, i thought it was the case, 1 reason or another many of us are exiles so got to say you doing a great job, could seem a bit thankless but posting for the sake of it isn't what your audience is about as we see elsewhere you get pages and pages of dross. All i can say is share the love, I'm hopefully going to the City Ground in Jan, first time in 10 years, seems there are alot of us, out of range and out of touch with all the juicy info and what is going on.

This is the best forum and one of the reasons is that it is not full of pointless posts. When going onto this forum you know it has good relevant contributions and some with inside knowledge. Some sites are full of unfunny posts which are supposed to be comic but complete nonsense. Others contain contributors trying to show off about how smart they are but have nothing interesting in them. It would be a shame to see this site go the same way.

If you're a Forest fan? You're a Forest fan. And if you have an opinion? It's yours to express. Freedom of Forest speech. Unconditional.
Forums. You can't 'force' people to contribute. Registering to join a club is one thing.
But there are two ways of participating. Reading. And Posting. The quiet majority may not feel like posting. Though there's nothing wrong with encouraging people to do so.
Eg. You go to a party. Or a Wedding after party.
Someone says, 'Dance.' Some people can't dance well, or can dance ok but maybe don't feel like dancing. But they don't mind watching other people dancing, enjoying themselves or just people watching people having a gossip about what under wear the bride may or may not have on.
Some people may feel even less likely to 'dance' if forced to do so.
If the ratio of registers is 10:1 in favour of reading vs posting that would make sense.
Many are out the loop, can't afford to go to games, live out the country, county or just aint talkative types or feel they can add anything to the conversation. Or may be beeped off that club legend MoN was sacked without a pre-season and subsequent transfer window and a crack at a full season. ie. Different reasons for not posting. But enjoy the gossip. (Having been raised by lots of women...I love the gossip.....)
This forum is singularly unique. It's the Brian Clough of forums. Decency and respect prevails.

That is not happening mate. Ever.
I think the main difference between our forum and the others is that ours actually gets worked on and moderated. If forums are left to run themselves then they end up in a mess. We are lucky because I have the time and I have the passion to work on this forum and to keep it well moderated.
Sometimes I need a bit of help though and the best way for people to help is to post.
Also I am not in it for profit, if I was then our forum would be full of ads like the others. I do it because I love Nottingham Forest Football Club.

I better give my reason for my silence this season and that is simply the fact I was testing a superstition that Forest play better and win when I'm not posting on any forums and up until the December curse struck again I was beginning to believe the superstition was right! Hope I haven't doomed us against Wigan tomorrow now...
