Would you be tempted to cash in on Johnson SSM if a decent offer came in this week?

I would.

No.  I think reason will come to the fore once the window is closed.  Ultimately, whilst DJ isn't happy that Brennan can't have an easy escape route favourable to him in the current offer, once the window is closed, his son is losing out on thousands of pounds a week he could and should be earning in a new deal.

Interesting.  So DJ wants Brennan to have an 'out' if a eg. Premier club comes in with a bid for £x amount?  Johnno his son's agent then?

We'll see if they blink.  Brennan hasn't got off to a blazing start in the championship.  He's been anonymous so far.  Maybe the contract stuff is distracting.  Maybe Rogers made him look good in League 1.  Perhaps the step up to the Championship is a large sandwich to digest.

A month or two ago, a non Forest related twitter account saw Rogers linked with Prem clubs for £9m.  The account made reference to Brentford's interest in Johnson, stating that Johnson outperformed Rogers when both at Lincoln (which is a fair assessment) and claimed Johnson's value should be in excess of Rogers'.

David Johnson (erroneously) stated that Rogers cost City £4m from WBA and that Brennan Johnson cost £0.  So Brennan's value should be less.

Firstly, this nailed his colour to the mast that he was trying to devalue his own son, in the interests of lowering the 'release fee' in a new contract at Forest for Brennan.

What I then informed him, was that Brennan did not cost Forest £0.  It costs the club several million a year to run the academy.  Of which, you're very lucky if you get 2 full time pros a season out of it. 

Considering Brennan has been with Forest since he was 8?  That means if you were to say 2 pros a year, at a (modest) cost evaluation of 1m per year per player, then Brennan has actually cost Forest £11m to produce.

David Johnson did what he usually does when challenge, and swore at me, made some bollock accusation and referred to him and his wife (ex-wife?) as watching Brennan train 4 times a week and that being priceless.  Even though it has zero value on the topic.

Now, i'm not saying Brennan is worth £11m.  But the club has treated him superbly, they've give him his debut, sent him on a loan to a club that has developed him fantastically, and now he's in his Forest break-through season.  I think the system could and should be adapted better to suit Brennan's game and he'd produce more as a result, increase his value.

But what is certain is that he is an asset of NFFC and David Johnson wants to both have his son be 'paid' his value, but also control the fee in which he can leave for, so they can set his next move up perfectly to benefit him, and not necessarily NFFC.

Brennan is absolutely good enough for this level.  He's an exceptional talent.  But he needs to master this level for a year, maybe two, before he even worries about his next move.  David Johnson needs to consider that when resolving his contract at Forest.

Hopefully Brennan is getting some advice other than his Dad. If he won't sign a new contract then he has to be sold.
I am hoping we see him grow in a Forest shirt this year and can get him more involved in games.
