I too was really surprised at the level of his ambivalence towards Hughton's reign, especially as I recall he kicked the club when CH was appointed as a way of getting a few truths out there about Vrentzos' interference with previous incumbents. It was his way of getting CH some cover in that regard. I would've liked them to press Taylor's views on that a bit more, and put it too him that if CH goes, how does that prevent a whole miserable cycle of churn from re-occurring? RE: Daniel Taylor - Sniffer Dog (Admin) - 08-09-2021 I was really surprised how many times he kept saying 'yer know' You normally associate that with thick footballers yer know. Colback won't be on over 15k (at least not in basic wages) the link Sniff posted showing 7k sounds more realistic. I would argue that Christie was worth the wages for a year loan (and was playing at least :D ), was a big reason we stayed up. Otherwise it's a pretty depressing list of overpaid players. Strikers cost a lot of money though, dont they. Taylor was interesting a lot of clubs at our level and came in on a free. £30k a week seems high but not extortionate given that he's basically pocketed the transfer fee for himself by allowing his contract to run down at Charlton. Yes, in the context of him not doing the business on the pitch it's a lot, but at the time I think he was a decent signing and if he improves this season, which I'm hoping he might, then it might not look so bad. Yep agreed with all of the above. He might look better in a 433 too if there are others getting closer to him. He's really not looked comfortable as the loan striker in the 4231. RE: Discuss Daniel Taylor's Thoughts - Sniffer Dog (Admin) - 08-09-2021 Exactly Pap. Plus every club makes bad signings and has player's sitting around and not playing. Listening to some you would think that it was only us. This is a bit of an aside to the main discussion but picking up on it as you have mentioned it before. Why do you think Colback is on low wages? He isnt certainly not £7K. It is well known he was on £40k/wk at Newcastle. According to many (not me) he was one of the best CMs in the league and any club would have wanted him. He certainly didnt come cheap regardless of his ability, probably took a signing on fee too. Christie I agree with you and the list I put out was simply high earners at the club regardless of their contribution. Sniff's article suggested 7k. Yes it is well known but he also didn't play for 2-3 years due to injury and not being wanted. I very much doubt he was in demand and was always a gamble due to the 2 years of injuries. Which proved to be the case as he immediately got injured. Personally thought he was great in his first spell, I guess the injuries have worn him down. So anyway, I'm taking all of the above into consideration (including Sniff's article) and concluding that it would be questionable to pay him big numbers. Perhaps a low base wage with large incentives based on game time. Maybe I'm being too generous to assume the club wouldn't have been that generous... someone ITK feel free to trash this :D RE: Discuss Daniel Taylor's Thoughts - Mcforest - 08-09-2021 Wages maybe high but at least we only have these players for this season Lewis Grabban, Gaetan Bong, Tobias Figueiredo, Carl Jenkinson, Jordan Smith. Be good to have a model that conditions agents that we maybe Nottingham Forest but we are no longer the wages gravey train like before. The plan should be you come in low and prove your worth and if you do that your wages go up, same for those you come through the young ranks. I don't think there are any ITK's on player salaries personally, even among staff at the club. The only people likely to know are the payroll staff and the people directly involved in negotiating the contract. RE: Discuss Daniel Taylor's Thoughts - Sniffer Dog (Admin) - 08-09-2021 Why would Dane be upset if Vrentzos was ringing around some player's? To be honest I don't think he did get upset for a minute despite what some might want to portray. In fact Dane should and he probably did embrace and really appreciate that. Yes we all know that Vrentzos was far from perfect in his roll of CEO but if Dane thinks that someone with much more experience than himself and with loads more contacts in the game than himself can assist and help him in some deals then where is the problem? Dane would be a fool to turn down such an offer especially when he's only been in the job for five minutes. |
