Pre Season starts Today

Wow, the close season has gone quickly. A week today the squad return to action on June 25th, when they will spend a few days training at England’s training base, at St George’s Park, but who will be part of that squad?

Karanka has repeatedly said he wanted the majority of new arrivals in for start of the preseason slog.

Paul Taylor has said even more times that the club looking to acquire 6, 7, 8 up to 10 players (talk about spread betting)

So with a week to go, it sure looks like it’ going to a busy one for the club, especially as I am also sure the manager also has a quite a list of players who he simply doesn’t want to be in Burton on the 25th.

Karanka said “It is important to have your group together as soon as possible. We are going to St George’s Park to be together on the pitch and be together in the hotel. It is important to be together to create those relationships. The club is working really well in the transfer market and hopefully there will be more.”

I am sure Forest fans must’ve spent all of last week refreshing their pages and looking for news as we were told that last week was going to be a busy one, as it was we saw just two arrivals in the Portuguese, but the club smashing its transfer record to do so. At the same time we lost out on Hutton (who I know the club really thought they were getting) and no noises on all the other players we seem to be in for.

All in all it MUST be a much busier 7 days ahead if the club really want to back the manager. And guessing Marinakis and Kominakis will have to get their wallet outs and Vrentzos  in top form for all the negotiations!

Not only that, surely this week they will be announcing the full preseason – we cant  afford to make the same mistake as last season and only have 4 “proper friendly” games

So how many incomings and who?
Who will we see leave this week?

Exciting times to be a Forest fan, just lets hope we are all overwhelmed come this time next Monday!

Yes, great post widdow.

I'll stick my neck out and say that we'll have Soudani signed sealed and delivered this week plus a goalkeeper, not convinced that it will be Pantillimon though.

Not ITK, just my opinion. I think we'll have to wait a bit longer for the 'right' main striker to join us.

Unless some moves happen very quickly I really can't see many, if any incomings happening this week. I'm not saying things aren't happening - obviously they are - but what I mean is that there aren't any firm stories about bids being accepted, players travelling for medicals, that kind of thing. We all followed pretty much every step of Carvalho and Goncalves' moves in the press. Apart from reports that we want certain strikers or full backs, what's happening next?

And hope you are right. DO like the sound of Soudani - and give us another great option.

As mentioned before Id sooner get Bentley than Pantillimon, but valued the latter's overall experience (although Bentley payed more times in CHampionship/ England than Pants) and height and some leadership at back. At same time didn't stop us conceding lots of goals, especially set pieces.

I think Karanka expecting those players in, and he has been explicit in that in every interview he has done, from end of season and up till now

Lets hope lots of hidden deals and heard that have over 27 targets for 9 position, many not mentioned.

The striker is key though!

Also like to think other clubs will see us bring in and spend big money or Portuguese, and think we will be an attractive proposition this year and a chance to go back to where we belong.

Which is saying something as we haven't been in the top division this century :( :s

Cheers mate

Stopped posting as became a dad, and also sick n tired of spending half the time reading posts of people arguing. Or only going on to post stuff to get a reaction.

Like it so far on here, started reading at first, but thought add a little in between bottles and nappies etc

Cant help getting excited at this time of season, but still think we need to do loads more in the market to get us back up where we are belong and feel really optimistic.

Since end of season we brought in two lads from Portugal (Fig was announced before end of season, before all shout 3) and a 35 year old defender. We have only lost our out of contract players, therefore tons of work to be done, so this should be a busy week

For me still need

2 Strikers (happy if one is Soudani, but be great to get him as well)
Left Back
Right Back
Keeper
Centre Mid

And if he has thoughts of playing 3 at the back, then could do with another CB.

And looking for Pace and height

Would you agree?

Then whole load of deadwood to shift!

Welcome, Widdow.  Good to see your posting.  :)

You may be on the money regarding needing another CB...

2 strikers, LB, RB, Keeper and CM means a minimum of another 6 players.  *Fingers crossed for a busy week.

Forest do need some pace and height.  (Hopefully that will help improve defending and attacking set pieces.)

That's good to hear, that there are names being looked at which aren't in the public domain. As I said, I'm sure that things are going on but we must be keeping them very quiet as everything seems to be out in the open nowadays.

It's always nice to have a surprise or 'two'...  Hopefully some secret gems are announced in due course.  It's good to see that the club can keep it's business cards close to its chest.

A good sign that it is being run by professionals.

Well the Mighty Bouch started training with Olympiacos yesterday as he was told Karanka didn’t want him to start pre season training with forest. Doubts he will sign for oly but it’s clear he isn’t wanted by the manager,so keeping fit in Greece and looks like will go out on loan if can’t do a deal with Oly.

So that’s one out this week (kind of)

Plus announced another pre season game against Oldham on 21st July. Not such a manic Monday.

6 days to go!!
