How Bad Is It Going To Be In The Championship?

I'm accepting what's coming now, if we stay up somehow they can reassess after that.

So, pro's - all games can be streamed now, cheaper tickets maybe, probably win more games, football can't be any worse. Playing Derby again (probably)
Cons - Friday night games, S**t teams/football, have to sell all our best players (does that really matter anyway), less chance of winning trophies/European football etc.

I also think we should still have a core of a good championship team. Neco, Sangare, Dominguez, Yates, Mcatee, Hutchinson, Jesus, Bakwa/N'Doye maybe, Savona, Chris Wood.

Sell MGW, Anderson, Murillo, Milenkovic, Aina. Probably have interest in others but selling those guys should be enough to cover us. We'll need some new CBs and some classic championship players but I think we'd be big favourites for promotion. Would allow us to give good minutes to the likes of Mcatee and hopefully develop them into PL standard players.

Most of those players aren't going to be willing to drop down to the championship.
Some I dare say we won't be able to afford their wages , unless we have relegation clauses.

I’m not too sure Williams or Sangare will still be with us if we go down. There will be plenty of Premier league teams after them too

Yeah agreed on Neco, he's our best player. Teams don't tend to pay big money for full backs though so maybe we can hang on if we've sold the others.

I'm less convinced on Sangare but happy to sell.

We won't sell every single player though, always end up keeping half of them.

The concern I have is there's not that many of the first 11 who will stay.

Aina
Milenkovic
Murillo
Neco (50/50)

Ando
Sangare
MGW

Cho (Fulham or somewhere)
Jesus

All go. Perhaps even Dom. Add in the dross like Ndoye and it's almost an entire squad

Yeah agreed on the wages front, not sure most of them have a choice on dropping down though if we go down! If they take us down they deserve to be in the championship!

Why would everyone go? They're under contract, we could keep most of them if we wanted. Wages might be an issue but if we're bringing in 100-200m for MGW, Ando and Murillo so that should cover most of the financial side.

If everyone went that would suggest we have a good premier league team... That would suggest they are massively underperforming. That would suggest the manager is failing.

Unless the financial S**t hits the fan then selling the entire first team is very unlikely. Hard to see Anderson, mgw and Murillo staying but the rest... I'm not sure.

The other issue is will we get what we expect for Anderson, Gibbs-White, etc… if we go down, we actually get a lot less for them than if we stayed in the Premier League,

I hope I’m wrong but I haven’t seen many relagated teams sell their best players for £60 - £80 million before

There is usually a relegation tax for those type of sales. How much did Madison get sold for when Leicester went down. That is probably a comparable sale as he was also an England international at the time.

Lavia went for 60m a few years ago.

A pretty average winger went for 40m+ from Ipswich last summer...
