Colback was poor last night - but he spent the first hour covering for Sow who just charged around looking like an accident waiting to happen.

Yep, Sow was a liability. He was at the end of last season too. Dont know whats happened to him. Hes lunging in, making rash tackles. He wouldnt be in my team atm.

My issue is throwing ever more players at it will not fix the issue unless they are better than what we have.  As I said you can argue the case for any of the individuals, it is the squad as a collective where the problem lies.
Alex Neill whinging about what we have spent, but I bet Preston play far better as a team than we do. Barnsley with their limited resources have out played and out battled us 3 games in a row. We did well last season, played above our abilities and went toe to toe with the top teams and won. The defence was outstanding last season, did it need a total rebuild? It seems to me we have just diluted what we had.

I see your point but its not like Preston achieved anything with the better team mentality. You need to have an actual quality base of a squad before being able to achieve anything. I dont think we had that before and I do now. Even if we don't go up this year we'll be well placed again the following year with few incoming required.

How many of last year's team would've got in Leeds/Wba/Fulham teams? Just cash I'd imagine (maybe Samba for Leeds) and Sow from the first half of the season. Doesnt exactly suggest we were on the brink does it?

Yep. On a positive note I liked the way that both McKenna & Soh were prepared to carry the ball into the opposing half.

I agree I thought Colback has been poor. Probably because he hasn’t played for so long. But we have a midfield now of very similar players. He doesn’t start the next game for me.

McKenna and Soh were a breath of fresh air after the hopeless and inept recent performances of Worrall and Figeiredo. The kings are dead, long live the kings.

A) I have never criticised Yates. I do see value in him. Only think I’ve said now signed all these 30 year olds is perhaps may be best to send him out on loan away from the fans who are on his back. 

B) so what if he was player of the year candidate a Few seasons ago. He wasn’t player of the year and they were poor seasons weren’t they? I am on record saying we shouldn’t have gone back in for him. You can tell not played a year after being in Newcastle’s bomb squad and being injured. Sure he will improve, but get the feeling he will play every game and can’t see that brining success. 

I didn’t mention anything about Arter. I saw the need for a box to box midfielder. I’ve suggested enough and to me he will be a worthwhile signing, but similar ball winner rather than creative player. Come on neither Colback or Arter will score many goals which is required from midfield. 

Both have experience of the championship but arguably two best players for us McKenna and Soh, has none and did ok. 

Sure the side needs to gel but will a new manager want all the players Sabri has brought in ?

Look fair play, assuming Colback keeps starting and doesn't get injured I think he'll end up being in our top 5 players again this season. We looked good that season with colback under karanka. You can tell me how wrong I was if he has a bad season!
