Sabri Will He Stay Be Sacked Or Quit
Plenty of other Championship clubs lost in the cup. Managers use it as a way of giving fringe players a game and introducing new faces. Unimportant.

Again, the Barnsley game was an opportunity to build confidence. If he played a weakened team that he didn’t think would win he should be sacked for that alone.

I’m glad you see losing as a positive, with sabri in charge you should get used to it.

In both games he has said our players weren’t ready. Then fooking get them ready it’s his job.

Also... it’s not the defeat to Barnsley that is the issue. It is the manor of the loss. An opportunity to apply different tactics, play a different way and banish the thought of last season. Nope... we played exactly the same way as we had been at the end of the season and that is the biggest concern.

Because of the situation we are presently living in the cup game was not like a cup game of old it was an extension of our preseason friendlies to be honest. Like others have said unimportant.

QPR was our first competitive game and we lost just like we lost our first competitive game last season.

Result of Barnsley game unimportant, I agree. The approach to the game and to an extent performance were very important I believe and that is where the problem is for me. Everything has been such a damp squib, needs some character and a rocket sent up the collective whoharr. All in my opinion, of course.

Because of the situation we are presently living in the cup game would have presented a way to make some much needed additional money that cup runs give.

The difference between this seasons loss and last seasons loss is that last season we didn’t deserve to lose and we played well. This year we deserved to lose to a much worse team than WBA and the performance was terrible.

QPR was not our first competitive game as we played the same way as we did against Barnsley (yes I’m a mug who paid to watch both games) with a different team. So by all accounts it’s just an extension of pre season friendlies. Will this now be the case for every game we lose because we certainly were not competitive against QPR

Exactly. If it were a matter of new additions needing time to gel or get fully fit, not such a problem. I wouldn't mind a loss so much if I saw an evolution in style that didn't quite come off because of team mates still learning to play together.

For me Barnsley and QPR were very, very important games because they have have shown that this evolution is probably not going to happen under Sabri. That has been far more telling than the players who took part IMO.

It's for this reason I'd like to see him go, despite wanting him to stay on at the end of last season. I like his persona, his calm, and his knitwear and I assumed he'd learn a lesson. That hasn't happened and it looks like he just isn't able or willing to implement the kind of football I would pay to watch. So it's a sad but necessary 'au revoir and bonne chance' as far as I'm concerned.

Yes we were!

Where would this additional cup run money have come from? There are no ticket sales and progression to the next round yields a relative pittance (part of the reason the league cup is way down the list of priorities).

We are probably better off financially for not having a cup run.

Yep, with no financial benefit, all it would do is cause disruption to the prepartion for the weekend game.

It would have got some minutes into the legs of the squad players but I’m happy we have a break to get the team prepared properly.

Sniff.... I see Sheffield wednesday are winning tonight... if any team were going to take the league cup and throw it away you would imagine it would be them what with their 12 point disadvantage and all.

I dont buy this crap about the barnsley game being unimportant. I'm not bothered about the result... the performance though...

Barnsley's manager described our game as their third and final pre season friendly
