He showed some nice touches on occasion today and a couple of failed attempts to link up with Grabban but that is me being positive.

Is he a better option than Mighten?

What tone does it set to the rest of the squad that he gets picked and Joao doesn’t even make the bench?

Another player with little output

Many times he leaves the full back exposed defensively, it’s often the DCM that drops in to cover.
I only said that because there must be some reason he keeps getting picked. Personally I have seen nothing that makes me think he should be a regular squad player, let alone a first xi starter

Maybe he is better in a more central attacking role rather than on the wing... At the moment the only thing going for him is that he was better that Diakhaby.

Figs elementary penalty gift.  Grabban misses 2 or 3 you'd bet him burying.

Another 'loss of concentration' moment.  I'd rather Big Ben in than Fig' at the moment.

Seem brittle at the back.

Cant pass either at present....

Again.  No possession in CM.  Can't see to put our foot on the ball.

Lacklustre.  Lacks energy.  Tempo.  Urgency from the off.

I hope recruitment have a ball player CM on the shopping list.  And a winger who is a class above what we have.

We keep getting mugged with soft goals.

Barnie.  QPR.  (Who have lost their best players...)

I don't think we can just keep signing more players. We've made some good signings and strengthened across the whole team. At some point we've got to actually get the good players we have, bossing the games as we should. We've all been wanting a player like colback, we got him, we've wanted a link up creative midfielder - we got a very good one in Freeman. Ameobi and Lolley should be able to create enough on the wings. And we've got two strikers who, with good service, should both be capable of scoring 15-20 goals

We have the players who should be able to a) perform better than this and B) win games.

We are shedding a cack load of money and have a decent depth of talent in the squad. We should be seeing the likes of Adomah ahead of da Costa. We should be seeing Jenkinson ahead of Gabriel. We have players who are not contributing when we play and players who are not given a chance.

At some point we actually need to play a system that plays to our strengths not try and simply limit the opposition

Agree with all that except playing Jenkinson ahead of Gabriel or Darikwa. I make Jenks our 3rd choice RB ( possibly 4th choice as new lad can play there).

You might be right about the ones who played in that match.

16 points from the last 57 available. Very concerning.

It's a slippery slope when confidence ebbs away. Good defenders make mistakes, good midfielders misplace passes and good forwards miss chances they should be burying.......

I am a bit nervous, its early days and one decent performance and it all changes. But this run of losses is not good for confidence...

Well i think there was nothing in todays game and we very easily could have come away with a point. I know we're on a bad run but I'm not yet ready to slag the manager off yet. What do we want, sack him and start from square 1? No thanks, I'll wait to see what he can do when he has a fully fit squad.

Oh and I'd play Ameobi every game. Over the last year he's been our best player bar Cash. Things happen when he has the ball at his feet.

The squad is pretty much all available (I accept that is not the same as fully fit) . Nobody is going to argue that if Silva played we would have that game playing the way we did.

But the season is one game old. The performance was concerning and there were few positives to take. Freeman does look good, Blackett was alright and Grabban was getting into position.

But far too many players looked rusty and off pace. Da Costa was guilty of giving the ball away and did not do enough to warrant his place imo. Lolley doesn't look 100%,nor did Colback. Gabriel's inexperience is clear - and it is not made any easier when you consider who he is having to replace. Worrall and figs looked drained of confidence. Nevertheless, other than the goals, samba barely had anything to do.

It is one game but it is nagging me that this was not the performance we had hoped for. We bemoan Grabban missing three shots but did anyone else look like they were going to chip in with a goal. This was our problem we had last year - when Grabban did not score there was no one else to score. And that in turn puts more pressure on Grabban.

Now this may change and the turnaround might be quick. But it won't happen unless we start playing from the first minute (not after we go behind) and that we play with less fear, greater positivity and a higher tempo.

More performances like today (and like those we have seen since June) and lamouchi will be gone.

The whole point of not sacking the manager is to build on last season and not have the whole first game, we need to build and work on thing nonsense. We are significantly worse than our first game last year when sabri did not know the squad they didn't know him etc etc. Concerning

If we can’t defend we aren’t going to win games. As happened again in this game. Personally I feel we need to replace the Figs/Worrall partnership which has been so poor in recent times. Central defence has been a disaster for months, and again against qpr. Both Figs and Worrall have been poor since February and both look mentally shot since Stoke. Get Soh and one other in.
