Is Our Squad Stronger Or Weaker Than Last Season
Very much depends....

Will Grabban hit another 20.
Can Lolley get over his injuries and be the same force.
Will Colback who hasnt kicked a ball in 18 months be the player he was 2 years ago
How much of a loss will Cash be on the right.
Can a defence that looked good until the last few weeks get its confidence back.
Taylor and Freeman in particular I have high hopes for but we need the rest of it to come together too.

Will Grabban hit another 20.   (With good supply.  Perhaps.)
Can Lolley get over his injuries and be the same force.  (That's a good question.  Need another winger brought in to push him.)

Can a defence that looked good until the last few weeks get its confidence back.  (They have better players in front of them.  But still no experience brought in for that back line that buckled under pressure.)
Taylor and Freeman in particular I have high hopes for but we need the rest of it to come together too. (We need to finish rebuilding of the midfield with another winger and another 'Steve Hodge' type.)

The squad is stronger. With clear upgrades.

But a couple of notable losses in Cash and Watson.

Lost 5 brought in 6. Only two of those lost will be missed.

So definately stronger.

Need that winger and ball playing CM. Some say 'Hodge.' Some say 'Moffat.'

I say. That's recruitment's job.

A winger and a CM. The latter needs to be a faster and more technical version of Yates, the kind of player Semedo was in those rare moments when he looked good last season.

Deadline 5th October.

24 days to go...

Pants gone too.

We look stronger this season but a lot can happen yet. Hopefully we'll get even stronger.

Yes.  Fair comment.  It's up to Forest to get that next level CM and Winger.

Someone who is faster in mind...more technical.  Yates.  Still early for him to carry the team in CM.

So.  Yes.  The sort Semedo seemed to be at his 'best.'

Glimpses of what we need for that position.

I'm still sitting on the fence. On paper replacing Watson with Colback is a slight upgrade- the last time I looked Football is not played on paper, but on grass -but that would be disrespectful to how good He was last year and how important he was.

I'm with others with the usual questions. Pleased Benalouane got a squad number, if that actually means anything or not time will tell.

Without Cash our right hand side and defence is much weaker.

Against this though our goal threat should be better with Freeman, Taylor and that big bloke.

Just pi$$ed off I cant go to games to watch the new lads properly.

So thoughts was the squad stronger or weaker.

Imo it was stronger but look where we ended up.

I think the problem was many people looked at the individuals brought in rather than how that contributed to the squad as a whole. On paper Arter and Colback look strong, as a pair they are slow and old, we did this sort of thing all over the pitch. There was no balance and little thought as to how these individuals actually fitted into the squad and if they matched how we played as a team.

Hindsight is wonderful. I will admit to being really optimistic about our summer additions

I believed Taylor would be great back up to Grabban
I felt Arter and Colback would give us a solid midfield that was capable of chipping in with goals
I though Freeman would give us the creativity we badly lacked from the previous season
McKenna I believed was a great signing of intent.

The others I believed would give us the squad depth needed in what was always going to be a hectic season.

Sadly with the exception of McKenna I cannot remember a transfer window since Joe kinnear where so many were signed for such a disappointing return.

Too many had not played for such a long time or were the wrong side of 30. It was not just a case of giving them time to gel...

In their defence, the club at the start of last season was coming off one of the biggest bottle jobs in history - they were arriving at a club and a team feeling sorry for itself - chances are, Messi and Ronaldo would have been rendered average by the train wreck of that last day collapse and although I backed lamouchi to bounce back, it was clear he could not.

As I started with - hindsight is a wonderful thing
