Jack Colback
He's not exactly been in demand the last year or two. I reckon we could get him cheap on a 1 or 2 year deal, not played for a year remember.

Honesty think he'd start in our team right now

To be fair, he was somewhat stitched up by Steve Bruce, who didnt name him in his squad at too late a time to be able to get fixed up elsewhere. In January he was injured so again unable to move.
Not sure what constitutes cheap in these strange times? Obviously no transfer fee, but not long ago, we struggled to attract Championship players due to a "paltry" £10k a week wage limit.  Not many of our 1st team players are reported as being on much more than that, with a few exceptions at present.
Realistically, the wages he was on at Newcastle were always going to be a road block. With a young family, I would have sat on the contract for final 9 months.  Be interesting to see what he does next. Hopefully, will join us if we are still in this division.

Are we actually really interested in him? I haven't seen anything that says we are trying to sign him.

No idea. Club will be very aware that he is available and lives locally. Be surprised if we dont have a conversation with him/his agent.

Colback, and more importantly his agent, will be well aware that his days of PL wages are behind him; they will also be aware of the financial state of the Championship.

This is probably the time in his career when he looks at earning less but over a longer period, with a nice signing on bonus thrown in.

Would imagine he'd see us a one of the better chances of getting a decent deal due to his previous relationship

I think he will go to the club who offer him the most money no matter where he lives or who he has played for before.

He has earned over 2m a year for last 4 years, so his next contract will probably be more about a family decision than who is paying the most.

His kids are settled at a school in Nottm, so you would imagine he will stay around the East Midlands / Yorkshire.

I don’t see a Prem club taking him TBH, so if we wanted him we would stand a good chance.

I reckon we will only go for Colback if Watson leaves.
