What Is The Clubs Transfer Strategy

I was gutted when Fawaz pulled the Moores takeover but looking back now, who would you want in charge? A guy who's run a football club for 10 years, or a bunch of Americans who know nothing about football but talk big about it? I'm with Sniff, I think the Americans were attracted by the development potential and that would've been their priority. You sense EM is looking at the football side first.

I think we need to remember just how close we came this season. We were in touching distance of the top two with just a handful of games to go yet some think we have made no progress.

Reading some of the posts on here you would think we got relegated although thank god it's a small minority. ( Not aimed at you Widdow).

Some comments are starting to leave facts behind now. For a start Britt sale was nothing to do with EM era, that was to keep us afloat after the Fawaz clusterfxxk, we would have been embargoed without it.

Second, profit and loss on transfer fees is NOT the issue with us, it is wages that are the problem, currently £28M/ year, 122% of total turnover. Wages are why we have to keep selling our young stars and why we have to stop buying rubbish like Bong (even though he was no fee)and wasting more on useless loans.

But its a fact that the EM ownership sold Britt. They came in in May 2017. Britt signed for Boro in July 2017. So it cant be said that it was nothing to do with EM. It may have been lined up by Fawaz' mob, but the transaction was done by EM.

Oh, and according to Swiss Ramble, our wages for the last financial year were 142% of turnover, up from 122% the year before! Yikes.

Not sure how you deal with this? Sell players to fund the high wages? Shift everyone on high wages and instill a strict wage structure but meaning we'd struggle with recruitment? Rely solely on academy but accept we're unlikely to ever go up?

Massive loss of income next season, I suspect EFL will suspend FFP this upcoming season but we'd still be reliant on the owners putting in the cash. Plus a potential salary cap (which would massively benefit us in the longer run) to potentially meet too.

I'd be tempted to shift as many as possible, run a small squad and rely on the academy tbh

Re the FFP, I thought they talking about just adding in a deductible allowance for losses associated with the lack of crowds? It would be costs such as 5 lost home games at £200k per game, 5 loan contracts extended, etc etc.

Did Leeds sell all their best players last season after failing, the answer is no and they spent £15m on Helder Costa alone

That was an owner who took over a badly run club a year after our big Greek took us on and look where they are now

They sold 2 or 3. Roofe was one.
