The nature of the two (sometimes three) games a week was always going to stretch our meagre squad to the limit. Yes it was the same for those around us but these teams had bigger squads and budgets.
I'm not seeking excuses as what happened tonight was inexcusable but I understand some of the tactics deployed. I feel sad because for much of the season we had shown real character and resilience. There was a sense of pride and optimism around the club for the first time in years. We beat the best in the league and always put up a fight. But tonight just seemed too much and it feels so much of the good stuff has been undone. I don't know where we go from here.

I am gutted... my oldest boy has spent the hours since the game in tears... my youngest has been in tears, then forgets and asks me then cries again... honest I feel worse than sheff u and Yeovil... I love Sabri but can’t see marinakis keeping him as he is brutal... cash will be gone, poss lolley, deffo worral, deffo Watson, ŵe need another cf, not surprised if we lose figs... gutted

Players will be sold, no doubt about it. We'll be running a tight ship. That was probably our best shot at going up and we blew it in embarrassing fashion. That one was hard to take.
That Jan window turned out to be a total disaster. Had we had the right approach things may have turned out different. Awful, truly awful shopping window. Our form was dipping badly leading up to covid.. got a couple of win bounces which lifted spirits again but then we dropped badly again. Something hasn't been right these last few weeks. Who takes the blame for that and why did it happen? I'd be right in assuming Dyche and Woan weren't in Hooters for the chicken wings this week. If that was down to meetings with regards to our better players then that was an unwelcome distraction. I can imagine Marinakis being desperate to get some funds into the club

When reading went down to 10 men first half it was obvious to me Swansea would come good later in the game
Ludicrous tactics from us at 1-1

We were screaming at the telly when they decided to adopt the warburton way of passing but not doing anything.
The writing was on the wall a few games ago. The legs looked gone, the creativity was gone, the manager was happy to sit back and see games out with devastating consequences. Last night at 1-1 they decided to pass the ball around and see the game out while others around them where fighting tooth and nail to maximise every opportunity to win and make it happen. Sabri got this wrong, so wrong he is lucky he just signed a new contract.
Let's be honest, even if they did get through there is no way this team would have beaten Fulham or Brentford. All that happened is that the players get to go on holiday early and the Forest management have an extra couple of weeks to plan the 2021 campaign. A couple of our better players will be going, sadly they may well be our academy products, that is going to hurt the squad badly, those players cannot be replaced. |
