A Hit Or A Flop
Have to agree - a flop I’m afraid.

Jason Lee - Hit or Flop
A flop for me, I was never convinced.

Flop. He was terrible.

Hit. For a player of his limited ability he was OK, led the line, always gave his best hit a few goals and played in a European Cup QF. He just never was a premier league player and I reckon he would admit that.

The abuse he got then we would find extremely distasteful now, ironically stirred up by David Baddiel who is usually the first person to shout racist on social media.

He offered something different from the other forwards we had at the time. Not necessarily better, but different. I remember him coming on as a sub late on against Spurs once and terrorising them, pretty much turning round the game.

100% hit. Just his touch at Peterborough away which helped contribute to 3rd goal and the carnage that followed is enough. Good pro.

Suppose he was a flop but he was exciting and I loved it when he came on. All round entertainer and a brilliant bloke.

I think the Baddiel/Skinner joke first surfaced not only because he looked different but also because he was a bit of a joke player. The gag was as much about how crap he was, just as much as his hairstyle resembled a pineapple.

He had random good moments coming on as a blunt instrument type of sub but at the time I felt he was, well, a bit crap. That's not to say he wouldn't get in this current side, it was he was just crap back then at that level, in that side.

Yes but Baddiel actually blacked up to do the sketch more than once.

Yep, outrageous really. They really did push it beyond a level of acceptability. It's surprising really because Baddiel is clearly an intelligent bloke who himself attracts racism, in his case antisemitism.
