Would You Trust Recruitment With Summer 2020?

SA.

Not really mate. Hogan's done it at Brum, Callum Robinson at WBA, both loan which we I reckon could have had for 2m

We loaned well with the likes of Shorey & Boyd in the past etc.

Really.

Could doesn't mean anything. It's fantasy football.

For all the reasons Jean listed.

Shorey is a perfect example of how difficult a January window is.

You can't 'could' a player to come to Forest. Shorey didn't want to stay after we helped him get into the shop window. And at what point do Wages become a limiting factor?

Given that Forest are in a different position now to when Aitor signed ten players...getting that promotion ready player is problematic and prohibitive.

It want easy then and it wasn't easy now.

That said. Forest did, unlike that previous regime, did recruit a LB in January with Championship promotion experience from a Premier team.

And make a profit on two unhappy players in that same position.

Which suggests the current regime can be be trusted to run the club and recruit in the Summer.

Loans for where Forest are heading i.e. Promotion must be like finding dragons teeth.

But we're right to expect that we get better at that. As the club further establishes their recruitment team I expect lessons to be learned and Forest to get better.

Again, relative to the Sun. I.e. The guiding star of current fiscal constraints.

As for why we don't get 'those' players.

Forest have been nowhere for 20 years.  It's history is important to me but what about younger players..?

Do they have that sense of history?

I sometimes get the feeling they don't like Forest.  But then the city ground was rotting, we have been run poorly...a soft touch for mediocre players who want high wages...and relegation threatened 3 times and prospects nothing special until the this season.

Ie. Who would you choose? WBA or Forest.

WBA are everything Forest haven't been in recent times and as a result have more leverage. And that's why Grotsetski moved there.

As for why other clubs get a Hogan. (Did Forest want him? Did he want to come..?)

We got a Sow.

I'm sure other fans will ask the same question. Why? And can we do better?

Just because Hogan has scored 2 or 3 for Brum there is no guarantee that he would score goals in our team. Playing alongside Jukewitz up front is one thing but playing on your own up front is another. The two teams play different types of football.

The players that come in January don't have the luxury of a pre-season with Forest.

That adds to the dynamic of 'do clubs want to let their ready to hit the ground running' situation.

Walker is the exception. He had that and knows the set up. He is fit. Ready to go. And has been banging the goals in...at a lower lvl.

True.

And player history and will he fit inside Forest's set up.  Is Hogan on Forest's radar.  ?  Should he be?

Did The Coach want him..?

No. No. No. No.

Hogan scored just 7 goals in 56 appearances for Villa. Far worse than Da Costas strike rate in the French top league.

Also one or two have mentioned Jenkinson and Sow being prone to injuries. Well have you seen Hogans recent injury record?

I am scratching my head at some of the comments in this thread I really am.

Oh and Naki Wells, what an impact he has had at Bristol City (not).
