Forest’s record against those in the top six is bettered by no-one else in the Championship.

Yes, there are 17 other teams in the league to consider; but a team’s success, especially at the top-end of the table, is often calculated by their record against their promotion rivals.

Victories are important to any side, correct; but beating your top-six rivals is a fundamental part of creating a promotion campaign and Sabri Lamouchi’s men have a stellar record against their promotion rivals.

The Reds have dropped points in just three matches, winning four, drawing twice and losing once.

Aside from an early-season loss at home to West Brom, Forest are unbeaten against their promotion rivals.

Lamouchi’s side are yet to complete their round of fixtures against the top six; they head to West Brom on Saturday and in April they host Fulham prior to a trip to Lancashire to take on Preston.

I think anyone would be foolish to overlook Bristol City in their reckonings. They are in 7th place on 50 points and only goal difference separates them from 6th place Preston.

We play Brizzle at home in March BTW.

I also think tomorrows match at Brentford, against Leeds could either throw the top 6 wide open, or put a gap between us and 5th and 6th, providing of course beat we Charlton.

We're still only 2 points from the automatic places. OK last night was a poor performance, but we're still right in it.

I just hope the injuries to Grabban, Sow and Ameobi aren't serious.

Afraid so Sniff.
I am absolutely gutted this morning ( my disappointment / anger has not abated ).
The unnecessary ‘resting’ of players together with the realisation that the squad is plainly not fit for purpose.
Not sure where to apportion blame:
- coaching staff have vastly overrated the fringe players ( promised I wouldn’t mention Yates again )?
- our scouting network appears unfit for purpose ( Diakhaby, Bong, Da Costa, Walker best we can do )?
- the big man unwilling to finance a promotion push?
I seriously believe this squad NOT to be of promotion standard.
I desperately hope I’m wrong!
I will be yelling encouragement home & away ( but with a heavy, resigned heart ).

I understand and share your frustration TPL but my conclusion isn't that the squad isn't good enough.

I believe most teams would have struggled if you suddenly introduce 5 "new" players that haven't played much recently and where 3 of them are new to the formation/team/club. It really was a big big gamble from Sabri and it didn't pay off at all. Hopefully this will be the last time he tries this stunt without being forced to do it.

I furthermore believe that if we had introduced just one of the of the 5 "new" players we would have been fine.
