SA - Gueddy & Yates did better.

Yates was more of as presence and Gueddy brought ball forward and beat a man, he did more than Watson, interested to see how he does on Wednesday.

Cheers, BadDog.   :cool:   That was my suspicion...  (Because, in each game of pre-season so far, when Yates has been or come on, the 'dynamic' seems to have changed in the game. Seems to have a good understanding with Geddy too. Or they seem to be complimentary, least ways.)

Yates has more of a presence.  Interesting.  Someone described him as a bit of 'unit' and he's only young, too.  Nice that Geddy is bringing the ball forward and beating his man.  

(That's more like the Geddy from a few years ago.  I wonder, he didn't play that much at Boro'.  For almost a year?  He didn't seem fully fit when he came to Forest in Jan'.  That's a big hit to a player who is expansive, progressive and combative in CM.  Maybe he, Watson and one or two others ((Pants?)) who hadn't been playing 1st team football needed a solid pre-season...to get their fitness back?  The three players mentioned seemed a 'touch' ring rusty when they first played for Forest back in Jan'?)

Wednesday should be interesting.  ;)

I think by the looks of things honestly Watson is on the way out his legs are going and like Silenzi said I didn't think he was all that last season.

Currently for me Colback & Gueddy or Yates would be better options.

We need another DM with legs otherwise good sides will dominate our midfield, Ozzie isn't the answer in that position.

So in short...by the end of the season Watson will be surplus and deadwood draining the clubs coffers...good..hiw many more we will have in a similar scenario...especially if we get promoted...policy should be...over 30s one year contracts with options for the following years...or we will keep ending up with Wards Murphuys etc.etc


In short would be he had a poor 45 minutes

I think some are reading far too much into these friendlies.
These games are to blow the cobwebs off and start to build up match sharpness and not much more really.

Next two friendlies...hopefully..will show us a better Forest..time for experiments is almost over now...apart from Colback (that knows the team well)...the other players should be up to speed by now...so no excuses of rustiness
..Wolves were in a similar scenario last year...nd never looked back...so if we want to set the tempo for other teams we must start well...no easy games in our 10 games...so we will be able to guage the team better...

Karanka has made it clear he wasn't happy either, maybe we are just saying what we see? Just like the manager did.

Doesn't mean we wont improve, we need & have too.

I love the off season. How the over the top giddiness after signing a few players gradually dissipates as people start to watch us play again.

Nottingham Forest Under-23s fought back from two goals down to draw 2-2 against Alfreton Town on Saturday.

Apostolos Vellios and Zach Clough, who did not travel on the pre-season tour to Spain, both started at the Impact Arena, but they were unable to get on the scoresheet.


National League North side Alfreton went two up in the first half after Arvin Appiah had hit the bar for Forest after good work from Danny Preston.

Tom Denton's header opened the scoring after 20 minutes, before James Clifton benefited from goalkeeper Tim Erlandsson's error just over 10 minutes later.

The visitors hit back with two goals in three minutes to level the scores. Gboly Ariyibi scored a fine individual effort after 55 minutes to make it 2-1 and then Toby Edser, back after a trial with Lincoln City, set up the equaliser.

Edser found England Under-17 international Appiah and he finished neatly to ensure it finished as a draw.

I`ll wait until next Saturday until writing off any players :) Saying that I was never massively impressed with Watson anyway, or at least in comparison to the hype, but he certainly helped shore up our defense last year...its good we have options in that space and I hope we keep Yates around to start to bed him.
