Not sure about the first comment, do they think the game is today?

on train to Notts Forest
Posted by Coachload from Carlisle on 18/1/2020, 8:36:03
Sounds like a good turnout - can see us turning the corner today.

Hope you’ve remembered to book a hotel then...

Sorry Coachload. It might to be a chap’s house.

The women outnumber the men, so maybe he is hopeful of going back to some birds house!

Btw its Nottingham Forest or Notts Co.

Yep can't see us conceding too many today

It was Notts Forest from their formation and for over a century afterwards. Even in the late 70's Nottingham papers called them Notts Forest. Pah to modern football

And you get the train to Nottingham, not Nottingham Forest or Notts County.

Just going by what Forest & County fans tell me. They're their clubs.

They were Nottingham Forest in the 1959 Cup Final.

They're Nottingham Forest.
Notts is just use as an abbreviation by people who can't be bothered to say Nottingham.
As the correct abbreviation is Nottm Forest but Nottm doesn't really work when you say it outloud.

"JBL comment: they seem to have an obsession with us"

Every club gets their full name for finals

Let's hope they can't see the wood for the trees!

Just to point out that Ciscokid was referring to:

I have added further comments since his comment.

By the way, what a fantastic username "Ciscokid"

Anyone fancy us to win ?

Nope.

You never know in football but its more a case of how many we will lose by not whether we will lose or not, it's not pessimistic its just realism, we are total rubbish unfortunately.

They could well scrape a 4-0

Annoyingly that's how I feel. Seems we can't buy a win.

James Collins still thinks we can stay up, well lets see him prove it tomorrow, talk is cheap, action speaks louder than words

Me too, glad the players still feel they can do it. my confidence is totally drained.

There genuinely is nothing that our players and managers can say without someone finding fault

Mental, i fully expect him to come out and say that we are destined to go down.

Forest to scrape it, I reckon!

How many Blackburn fans (no wins in 6) would have expected them to get anything away at Sheffield Wednesday (who won at Leeds last week) but, just after half time, they are 4-0 up - it's a funny old game, Saint.

Not really, just looking for us to restore a bit of pride, cut out the mistakes, and make life difficult for Forest

Forest ain't great at home. The early kick off game is often flat. I'm going for 1-1.

3-1 win. A real season changer

That'll do me

Or 2-1
Keep the faith

4-5-1 and play on the counter, and who knows. We have the pace on the counter, a nice 2-3 win would be just the tonic.

bit worrying, no sort of 'lost the dressing room' or 'manager is awful, terrible game management' type sentiments

seems maybe they have been a bit unlucky?

really hoping we have our game preparation spot on ie doing everything at least 3 hours earlier and absolutely raring to go come noon

Luton are a horrible little club, always have been.

One comment that keeps worrying me though is the "early game is always flat" hence 1-1 predicted. They could be right! (About it being flat) and our players have struggled to raise the mood too much at home over last few months.

Still 2 wins in 4 days, sitting 2 points off 2nd would certainly lift the mood!

4 0 trees

Interesting - so if we lose 4-0 you will be on here praising the manager and the team then?

2-5 COYHHHHHhhhhh!¡!¡!!¡!
A brace from Collo and Brown off the bench, followed by a pen won and converted by Hylts
All assisted by the Slugs arrowing his goalkicks into the danger area. Football the likes of which this world has never seen. COYH

8-1 Forest

3-1 Forest. Concede early goal, equalise and then let in 2 late ones.

Rea could be a big player for us in the second half of the season, good to see him back and hope he can get up to speed quickly.

I think that team could play in at least 3 different formations though, so it will be interesting to see how we approach this.

(Could be 4-1-4-1 with Rea holding and LuaLua/Cornick out wide, could be 4-2-3-1 with Tunnicliffe sitting alongside Rea and Pelly pushed up or wide with LuaLua more central, could be the diamond with LuaLua behind a front 2 - and all that assumes that Rea is not part of a 3-man defence!)

first forest goal
time prediction.
11 mins for me.

Judging by the warm up we will concede within the first 5 mins. And it is freezing here.

... will be an own goal to give us the lead and signal a change in our fortunes. End result, 3-1 to the Hatters!

Lua lua most fouled.
In the championship this season? Surely not

Sounds like he's being kicked to death already!

1 - 0 Town, Cornick!!!!!!

Get in! Keep the faith...

Yes, fine finish.
There are some people that don't see it but he's getting better . . .

####ing get in

Need to keep going and not sit back now. Need another goal good start though.

Don't get excited. Jones will change it at half time and we will capitulate like Millwall

Sluga looking solid
Confidence showing

Based on what?

Watching the game at the time of posting

General goalkeeping, expected from keepers all game.

er.......You were saying!

You had to open your mouth !!!

How the hell does he get selected in front of Shea?!!
Staggeringly poor and how many more points is he going to cost us before we get rid.
Shocking keeper

They are not mistakes. They are absolute howlers.

F*cking bollocks

Ha ha, Luton Town, the gift that just keeps on giving

It's Sunday you f*cking stupid c*nt.

Sluga
utter wank

It's getting silly now
What a joke!

From where I'm sat it looked like player right in front of him - unsights him with a tiny deflection

Can not defend the indefensible. How he gets in ahead of Shea is one of life's mysteries

He started the attack from which we scored. Shea would not have done that.. still has to save some as well!

Reality is though he’s cost us more goals than any goalkeeper we’ve had for a long, long time.
Yes the level is higher but his basics are flawed. He makes worldie saves then can’t save the simple? He’s 1.5 mill down the drain unless he turns it around next season - no chance he’ll turn it around this season.

good first half, defensively looking better, mistake ( another by sluga ) rea a red card waiting to happen so I would take him off now.
we are still in this.

Potts heads off lolley then no save to make

Whole team putting in a shift and defending as a team, very good except for Sluga.

Any Sunday league keeper would of saved that. 5 individual errors from him in 15 or so starts? No matter how you dress it up he's just not good enough.
The team are doing really well, tactics are spot on.

The 2nd 45 mins & it all to go Pete Tong.

The stats show that they have scored more second half goals and conceded the least amount in second half

2 - 1 Forest.
All over

Everyone blaming Sluga. Easy target. Match reports will I'm sure point out that Lolley is a danger when he checks on to his left foot. He has to be shown outside. Twice Potts allowed him inside and the result, two goals. Potts never gets defensive help from Lua and he's exposed on every diagonal.

Potts is S**t.

That's the end of that then. I said 4/7 on forest was a banker of all banker bets..

Forest v Luton
Continued....

Team are S**t

That I'm afraid is the closest summing up to the truth all season

We cant keep conceding 2 a game, no team can survive that.
100+ conceded is on the cards still.

I am sick and tired of Potts time and time and time again lettin players run onto him cannot stand it any more really does my head in

Don’t be stupid, no way Potts could have stopped that.

He’s given away as many goals as sluga get them both out the team and we may push on

He ha shiver his man loads of space all game. He was bound to get punished eventually. Don’t worry though Jones will make some great changes and we will get back into this

Was thinking of getting rea off now as his lunging in could get him another card

Of course he could have stopped it. Allows a left footed player inside on his left foot !

Back-off, back-off, turn your back to him and then let him turn inside you FFS. Defending of a 5 yr old.

We would have so much more confidence if we were comfortable with our keeper. He’s nervous in goal for Luton he’s never really been comfortable there’s been too many unforced errors from him to still be in goal, where on Earth is Shea?????

No mention of the point blank save, or the one where it came off Pearsons head.

He’s a keeper, he’s supposed to make saves, not chuck them in FFS

So are you saying that because he’s made a few decent saves it makes up for all the cockups he’s made. If you have played any sort of football you would know that having a crap goalkeeper behind you drains the confidence out of you

Agenda my arse. Any keeper in league 1or 2 would of saved them all. Not one save was anything but routine. He's just not good enough. The rest of the team have been very good and we were on top until another basic error. GJ must be ####ing fuming. He'll get the blame again no doubt.

Any keeper would be bloody uncomfortable if they had our defenders in front of them tbh.

Collins... Agreed. We have no idea and it’s painful to watch. If it were a boxing match it would be stopped from taking further punishment.

####ing hell. How can you be that drunk at 1.33pm??

So we are not being dominated and we are really a class side except for Collo. And I’m the one on the booze!

Jolley
Didnt he play against us for Kidderminster when we spanked them seven nil?

Yeah but lower league players can't play, they have too be worth millions to be any good ,we ain't got the budget I heard Jones mention I think.

Who is jolley????

we are####ing shi't
fuk it

Unfortunately yes we are, started well but have gone back to our gutless way of playing again

Really sick of seeing images of our bench with a bunch of ineffectual elderly men in track-suits trying to look important. Waste of money!

And then there’s coaching staff too ...

Tunnicliffe
Seriously- he hasn’t broken into a jog this half . No idea what he offers .

Does nothing in defence, slows everything down going forward. Doesn't seem to try as hard as he could.
What is the point?

Some of them gave up at half time. Not good enough.

Typical second half performance you can tell by the body language players are clearly not good enough and they just have no fight in them att all.

Cornick - Heart problem?
Taken off with a raised heart rate. Looked a bit pale sat on the bench. Possible virus they’ve said. Good luck to the Lad that’s all it is

Abject+heartless =Jones
Just get rid ffs. He is easily the worst manager since Paul Buckle and NOBODY wants to join us even on loan. The squad is demoralised and at this rate we'll even struggle in League One. We can't go on like this and I'm so disappointed in those who as early as last month had already accepted our fate.

were down, were getting relegated
confidence is shot to peices. jones might be gone

Defo pen

Sick of losing
No fun is it !

 Usual three goals conceded

The problem is that teams only have to be average to beat us.
Hull home
Forest home and away.
Preston away
Derby away
Cardiff away

Fcuking shite
No energy, effort, attacking ideas and school
Made a mediocre team look good. Unbelievable
Reply
And more.......

On course to be a laughing stock

So another poor display after a good first 30 minutes or so. Jones has managed us to at least be on course for one record. According to sky we are on course for the most goals conceded in a season. Well done lads keep it up.

We've already arrived at that point

No ideas, just long balls time after time, when we gave got the ball we csnt do more than 2 or 3 passes before we either over hit it or get out muscled or just pathetically give it away and then we are completely under the cosche again.Stupid mistake AGAIN from Sluga and a schoolboy mistake from Bradley who looks shot to pieces,Potts and Bree looking like they dont give a fuvk.Started really well and as soon as the goal went in we just gave up,utterly utterly depressing and relegation almost a certainty,i so hope I'm wrong. I would chop my right hand off to play for my club if I was good enough just wish some of the players had that fight in them and belief.

Yeah, we’re playing against mega star geniuses like Sammy Ameobi, our plucky lads don’t stand a chance.

Not a fan of Don Goodman, BUT
Can't disagree with his summing up of us

From what I watched today
Errr most or the teams we play have better players.
Simple as that.
Could really say that side out today didn’t give their best.
Notts Forest simply upped the tempo, and that was the difference.

Things we DIDN’T learn today

Posted by Sandgrounder on 19/1/2020, 14:33:15

AKA things that have been blindingly obvious for weeks (or all season in some cases)

Sluga will distribute the ball well, make some excellent saves but is also likely to make one (at least) goal costing error every game. Has there ever been an instance before if a keeper having no clean sheets in his first season at a club having played the majority of games?

Our full backs are bobbins. There isn’t a single good one at the club. Bree on set pieces - give me strength. Potts - surely must know Lolley will cut inside on his left - so why back off and allow him to do it, TWICE?

We have no pace at the back. Most opposition teams have pace and strength all over the pitch. Prolly looked like a proper physical specimen in league 1 - in the Championship he blends in.

We look better with a proper defensive midfielder. Thought Rea was generally OK.

Tunnicliffe offers nothing. Looking very possible he’ll end the season with no goals and no assists (that I can remember). For a non-defensive midfielder that is shocking.

LuaLua runs out of steam after half time, as do most of the team.

Once we concede (especially away from home) confidence drains away.

This is what we are. We will go down. To an extent we’re competing against financial doping. If we’d kept the whole squad fit and had a bit of luck we might have had a chance. We haven’t, so we don’t. Jones could have done better in some aspects but the time to judge is this time next year. He’s not going anywhere before then (unless he wants to) so best just to accept it.

My favourite bit was when the big centre half was speaking at great length to the corner taker (in the corner). He then slowly ran to the far post and won a header against a challenge weaker than would have been provided by my Gran.

Stevie Wonder would have seen that one coming.

Don Goodman (again)
'A league 1 and 2 squad, trying to compete in the Championship'.
Unfortunately, that's the truth.

If the club was the royal family
Who would we be?

Mr Markel...

Just seen the goals.... Ffs Sluga
First goal was embarrassing and should have done better with the second.
Bradley was just an idiot for the pen what was he trying to do?

Second wasn’t his fault. Even commentators said that they couldn’t fault him for that

Needs to loaned out. He might be a half decent keeper one day but we shouldn't be experimenting. I think a spell lower down could help build his confidence.
I'm still not convinced and think he could go down as our worst signings ever. Although Roper and the herbalife #### will take some beating.
