Are Preston and Leeds really any better than us? I am not convinced.

I am not convinced either and a look at the league table backs up that judgement.

It's there for the taking I hope we can grab it.

I reckon it's there for the taking too, I am not sure if we'll ever have a better chance.

We CAN do this. We are sitting just 3 points off second with a game in hand. I honestly don't think we have played that well over the season but look where we are. I am certain we can and we will play better. I honestly think that we have another gear to go up yet. Hope I am right on this, we'll see soon enough.

Agreed. It's been a long time since I've looked at our side and thought "that's actually a promotion challenging team" as opposed to "that's got some promotion challenging players".

I think a fully fit first 11 is as good a team as any other side in this league, and that our only real weakness is a lack of pace. However I think the squad as a whole lacks, and that it's only a playoff squad at best.

Just need said pace and that bit of extra depth, esp up front, to make us serious top 2 frontrunners.

I agree I can honestly say the only game in which I felt we dominated was against the blues. I think we need 2 wingers a striker and maybe cover in the middle. I'd welcome Jack colback back.

Good summary Alf and I agree with the points you've made.

I change my mind almost daily on whether we're a top 2 side.

Pros are we have a deep squad, which has already been tested with injuries and we're still there. Harmony between club, manager  players and fans. A top goal scorer and a solid defence. A good mix of youth and experience.

Cons are we dont seem to be able to win a game by more than a single goal. We have no cover for Grabban, our older players are among our best and so if get further injuries we might struggle.

On balance id say we're a top 4 side with the ability to improve by plugging gaps in the squad. West Brom look certs and Leeds wont trip up again. Play off winners for us this year.

Both will strengthen their squads in January. Nothing is easily predictable but the two sides will certainly be going for it when the window opens and probably be in front of the queue for any decent players that become available, such as Gayle. They'll also be able to out bid us wages wise.

I wouldn't say West Brom are certs but they are the favourites.

Leeds? I certainly wouldn't bet on them not to trip up again.

I haven't seen anything from Leeds yet that suggests that they are nailed on for a top two place.

If we can get up this season I see no reason why we can't stay up and become established in the PL.

Leicester, Wolves, Sheffield United and Burnley all currently in the top 7 of the PL.

And Bournemouth, Brighton, Palace, Norwich, Southampton & Watford also in the prem. How many of those would the average fan consider to be bigger and better clubs than us, if we'd been run as well as they had over the last 10 years?

If we get up we certainly have the potential to stay up for a decent while.
