Is Our Squad Stronger Or Weaker Than Last Season
was watching celtic and lazio last night.

so much faster and direct going forward than us. granted its a higher level but still i feel our buildup is far too slow and predictable.

I think we got a flavour of that Jock - albeit only from a friendly - when we played Olympiacos pre season.

thats true mate.

All Lolley does these days is try to cut in and do the spectacular shot.  we have no width or pace on the flanks. everything is slow.

For me the minimum we need in Jan is:

- Genuine quality winger such as Grosicki

- Good Championship alternate striker such as Olivera

- Adequate backup goalscorer - James Collins preferably, Tyler Walker worth a try for the fee, Jack Marriot if we can nab him from Derby with a cheeky trade bid to offload some deadwood (I know he's having a crap season, but Derby have been poor all round).

- Physical CM who can provide both backup for Sow & Yates, and also play instead of Silva when we need more muscle. Semedo does this to some degree, but he's injured, a loan, and has poor positional sense.

The first 3 on the list are players I've been wanting the club to add since AK's 25m window. How we're still so short of attacking options is unreal.

bowen and grosicki looked alot more threatening than what we have.

I don't think Grosicki is the type of winger we need after watching him play against us this week. Cash had him pretty well under control, their Goal (1st I think) came when they had 3 against 2 (Watson hadn't come to join the cover). Would prefer someone with genuine pace/power (as last had with Antonio/Burke).

Clearly Forest need to add some goals, and no one doubts another striker needed. I was more impressed with Magennis than their wingers.

Have to disagree OR.
Whilst Cashy achieved some level of control after the break I thought Grosicki had him on toast first half.

Throughout the squad we lack pace. Central defenders are ponderous. Full backs not especially quick. Apart from possibly Semedo, nobody to break forward quickly from midfield and wide players are not quick either. That lack of pace throughout the team impacts upon how we have to set up and how other teams set up against us. It makes it harder even before a ball is kicked.

This is true and it needs to be sorted in January.

Coudn't disagree more mate. I think he's exactly what we need tbh. Pacey & a constant danger. 4 goals this season already, 9 goals 12 assists last year, and looked great the other night with him + Bowan being the stand out players for me (would take Bowan too).

Don't get me wrong, I'd sooner have Antonio, but the club would rather employ Modesto to get us attacking....ahem..... "threats"......haha.......like Mir & Ameobi rather than Pearce to get us the next Antonio or Britt.

Not saying sack Modesto, but definitely wouldn't be against Pearce lending him a hand in some capacity.
