I rate him, but think 13m was way too much, and that he should have been 4-6m at most.
But that's irrelavant now. At 22 he's still got bags of time to grow, and he's also a player who'll suit the Prem way more than the hustle & bustle of this league.
The key thing is finding him a position. The role AK had planned for him isn't the one we have planned now.
We didn't pay 13m for him and I don't care what the next accounts say. That is why we employ Sam Gordon.

Carvalho or Silva versus Wigan or both?
As things stand I would go with Silva for the first 70 minutes and then replace him with Carvalho.

Carvalho every day in his rightful position just behind Grabban.
Even tho I thought he had his best game for the club against Brentford since signing overall I think he’s been disappointing.
But to be fair to him he’s still getting used to playing in a foreign country and in a different type of league and we all know he has got that quality in him and I have every confidence in him that he’ll come good.

How much longer is that excuse going to be trotted out though?
I like Carvalho, I think he will play in the PL one day but right now I want to see more from him. 4 goals in 41 appearances the majority of them played just behind Grabban. In my opinion it's not good enough I'm afraid. This is debate not criticism. I like the guy and I rate him but I am a bit underwhelmed with his Forest career so far. If his name was Dave Smith and we had signed him from Southampton he would be getting some right grief on here.

Right now the main problem for Carvalho is he doesn’t fit into the formation that well. He doesn’t seem as mobile as Silva is (or semedo) in that central midfield role and will need to get better off the ball to play that role.
Alternatively as a winger he hasn’t got the pace and we just have better options. I just can’t see how he doesn’t end up getting gazed out eventually. From what I’ve seen I think he has more chance of becoming a winger and just playing the position quite centrally but he would rotate with Ameobi.
He might get a stay of execution for a few games with Sow out although I’d go semedo and silva personally. Silva just seems to offer more defensively than Carv.
I don’t care about the fee, he’s suffered badly from the changes in management last year. Right now he needs to prove he can play one of those positions

I’m on about Silva(sorry I should’ve stated).
And that’s a definitely criticism of Carvalho there.
I think it's factual GreenMan not a criticism. Like I said I like the guy, I don't want to come across as a Carvalho hater because that is not the case at all.

Carvalho is obviously very talented but always feel he could do so much More. He dominated Middleborough in a terrific performance last season but I can remember alot of mediocre performances too. He's not undroppable .
