Brum surely not a contender. But Leeds, Boro etc could be...

Us buying Grabban helps pay off Bournemouth's EFL FFP fine, with a little bit money left over.

The EFL and AFC Bournemouth have reached an agreement to settle a dispute between them arising out of the Financial Results of the Club in 2014/15.
The Club was deemed to have breached the EFL’s Championship Financial Fair Play Rules (“the Rules”) at the time, but proceedings were stayed pending the outcome of a legal challenge by Queens Park Rangers against those Rules.
In reaching a settlement, the EFL acknowledges that the Club did not make any deliberate attempt to infringe the Rules or to deceive. All relevant matters were taken into account when determining the quantum of the settlement.
The agreed settlement of £4.75m is in full and final settlement of all and any claims by the EFL against the Club and its officers, in respect of the FFP Regulations for Season 2014/15.

Now the money any team fined should be distributed among all the other teams in Championship as those clubs broke rules to get promoted. When we fell foul of FFP we were hit hard and it put us back years.

Forest seemed to get hammered when we fell foul of the rules. We were fortunate to stay up but fair play to the managers at the time for operating under those circumstances.

Glad that is all behind us. The new ownership is a sea change.

Will QPR get hammered?

Money fined to be re-distributed?

Leeds on are spending on Vydra...but that isn't 'home and dry' yet?  Can they afford both?

Boro'.  Pullis reportedly after Waghorn.  Spent 5 million on Flint.  They've spent big money in previous seasons eg. Brit.

Birmingham had a near miss with relegation.

That said, doesn't stop some teams wanting both?  Vydra and Grabban for Leeds would make a very potent strike force.

We have to make sure Grabban goes over the line so we weaken Leeds, Birmingham, Boro' by them not getting him.

It's a strategic signing for Forest.  Hope it goes through by Friday as some have said.  It must be reaching boiling point in terms of it happening or not.

Not the only striker in the world, though.  Given the supply line behind the 'A N Other' striker, I dare to say that any of the targets would score at least 15 this season.

My theory - Birmingham is an excuse - it's Leeds that he is attracted to and he's waiting a few days longer on them. They are probably negotiating on Vydra but might want both depending on if they can afford it. So, we're basically waiting for the sheep to sort their ***** out.

The 'stalling' could be an agent waiting to see how this plays out.

The N.E.P says it's due to be completed...by the end of this week.

Hope so.   :D   This seems to have been rumbling along all week...

There was a report on Twitter that Bad Ass might be coming back. Maybe we’re applying similar tactics as the player’s agents, along the lines of “We’ve got plenty of alternatives, the offer on the table won’t be there forever”. Something else the Birmingham Mail are making a big play of the fact that they’ve had a bid accepted by Bournemouth. Well if we don’t have a bid accepted by them, what have we been doing for the last week talking to the player ? The obvious conclusion is that they have accepted a bid from us as well, and given us permission to talk to the player, otherwise isn’t that “tapping up ?”

Finally if Bournemouth accepted a bid of £5 million, can they “unaccept” that bid? If not why would Birmingham up their offer to £6 million ?
Reply
Yes, ForestFire59. I was thinking that myself. 5 million bid accepted. Brum' have lodged 6 million. So both bids must be accepted. Which one has priority? The highest? (Confident Forest can match Brum'...but will they want to? Maybe if it is their top target...they'll be patient but how much more patient?)

Then you've got wages as well. I thought Brum' were financially hard up? Can they offer higher wages than Forest?

And then there's Grabban. If wages are equal. Where does he want to go? It may come down to that. Who knows if Monk will be there half way through the season...

Forest have tried to do all their business early and off the record so far, it seems. Will they get involved in a bidding war? Will Boro and Leeds join the chase? Forest. They've invested most of this week in talks seemingly. It should be a matter of just medical and signature?

Surely, they're leading the chase for this one? Think Friday will make things clearer...

Are you absolutely sure that the fine money gets redistributed amongst the other clubs in that division?

I read somewhere that had changed when the rules were modified again at the start of the 2016 - 17 season.

Previously the money was paid into the EFL Pool account and shared out evenly amongst the clubs; the article that I read stated that the money would now go to an EFL Financial Fair Play Account and would be distributed to grass roots and charitable organisations - the EFL site confirms the change of account details but does not elaborate on the distribution of monies.

FFP is now governed by the Profitability and Sustainability rules; clubs that break the rules are investigated by an independent Fair Play Panel.

The range of penalties for breaches of the rules have been extended to include Embargo's, fines, points deductions, demotion or prevention of promotion.

The PL have bought in to the changes and agreed to enforce any punishment levied by the panel.

Once the QPR case is closed, there will be no other loop holes to hide behind.

As I said, the money "should be" distributed between other clubs..

Your right in now goes to Grass roots - and charitable lol - More money for the EFL to spend on entertainment. Doesn't do anyone any good, and money doesn't really get seen/

Divided between clubs always helps give a bit of income, and another warning to clubs as you will be giving your money to other teams.

Grabban expected to undergo a medical tomorrow. If all goes well, he will sign a long-term contract. Either a three year contract, which could include the option of a further year or a straight four-year deal.

Will be another big piece of the jigsaw in place, if all goes through without any issues. Experienced, proven striker at this level - which is what Aitor Karanka has craved form day one, this summer. Good signing.

Don’t believe so

39m losses over rolling 3 yrs.

2 yrs of austerity have enabled us to push the boat.

We have FFP insurance policies in the form of Brereton, Worrall, cash and Ozzy

Also take into account last seasons attendance average was up by about 5K and the promise of the same again ths season and there is another bucket load of additional finances. Record shirt deal on top of that as well.

The club is now being run by professionals from the top down and not run by some egotistical dullard who had no idea what he was doing.

The Professionals!  (Interesting info' on the revenues with Attendances and Record Shirt Deal.  That's a lot of extra DOSH. That may explain our extra reach this season and having new owners. Spreading payments out over slightly longer contracts. And we took our medicine in selling Britt too... A calculated move?)

That's an excellent point.  'Insurance.'  Good catch.  We've taken our medicine and we're ready to go.  Perhaps we've been sandbagging the last two years.  A calculated move to get our house in order and begin the 'surge.'  Steady the ship first then 'go on my san.'

Current spending should be well within FFP guidelines.

Carvalho signed for 13.5 m on a 5 year deal, that impacts on this years accounts by 2.7m

Soudani signed for around 2.5m over 3 years accounts for another 800k

Grabban @ 6m on a 4 year deal equates to another 1.5m

Wages will need to be taken into account but we have shipped out a number of big earners and sold Eric with more to go.

Makes sense when you put it like that.  We're making a 'measured' and 'calculated' push for promotion having eaten our reality sandwich.  Spreading the risk..and doing our proper due diligence with quality targets (many of whom, with teh youth Academy products can provide a return instead of letting players go for nothing all the time.)  Timed to perfection.  The last couple of years of austerity have steadied the Forest ship and get our house in order.

Good to go?  For a promotion push.
