Tony Woodcock, born in Eastwood, Tony played youth football for Priory Celtic.
He signed a contract with Nottingham Forest in 1974. After loan spells at Lincoln City and Doncaster Rovers, Woodcock broke into the Forest first team in 1976/77, helping the team to promotion to the First Division, the following season he was part of the Forest tam that won the English Title and the season after that he lifted the European Cup for his local team. In total Woodcock made 129 appearances for Forest and scored 36 goals.

Yes he was good enough, if only he had stayed a few months more until Cloughie arrived.
Incidentally it was Cloughie who took him away from Forest when he was manager at Leeds.

Then again anyone would have struggled trying to fill the void left by Stan Collymore.
