Brian Clought signed him from Manchester City to replace Archie Gemmill but sadly it didn't work out.

the mullet didn't cope much better, sadly

I remember now that Hartford actually had a heart problem.

Nice to see a very young Martin O'Neil above on the front row at the end on the right.

that 76/77 season, Forest got promoted in 3rd place on 52 points, Bolton and Blackpool just missed out on 51. I was going to say that season was pivotal but also the 1 point, i mean if it wasn't for that 1 point history would of been a bit differant, pretty much 20 really good seasons and since 20 plus years in the wilderness ... until this season?

Awesome pic, 2nd highest scoring team in that league, well done lads

Great reception for a team that lost. Imagine if we had won...

Why was Burns captain, was McGovern injured?
Reply
Yes Mcgovern was injured and he missed the match so Kenny Burns was captain and lifted the trophy.

Lyall made 116 appearances for The Reds and scored 24 goals.

George is now a big Forest fan and attends most home games.

Watching George Lyall is one of my earliest memories of being a Forest fan.

Cracking little player.

Just looking at the state of that City Ground pitch compared to how it looks now.

It's incredible to think that we played absolutely superb football on that pitch.
