Season 2019/20 Can We Finally Go Up?

I reckon that list is pretty fair tbh. There will be 7 teams with prem parachute money and bigger spending power than us for starters although that wasnt an issue for Norwich or Sheff Utd last year. Our odds dropped significantly one we became “Big spending Nottingham Forest” not that it did us much good.

Bielsa staying at Leeds is massive if he gets a chance to build his own squad this season I can see them running away with it. Derby and Swansea are possibly the 2 big unknowns and depends on their managerial situation, Stoke I fancy will be a lot stronger next season.

What will make the difference is if we can build a team that can get consistent results rather than chucking a load of players together and hoping for the best. Oh, and not sacking the manager in January.

Norwich and Villa were both in their last year of parachute payments and got 17mil this season like I mentioned some time ago in another thread it seems the 3 year cycle of payments does help in getting teams back up into the prem.

Forest need to take care of their own business.  Run the club better.  Recruit better.  A manager to take advantage of both of those.  Do that?

Forest haven't had the successive years of being run well or investment in the squad or recruitment that the top 8 had ahead of 'us.'

And it showed.  Forest hit 'the wall' every time they tried to get into that top 6.

This year will be the 1st year in...(answers on a post card) that Forest have actually built on any kind of foundation.

It's about building something.  And the teams above Forest had been doing that for longer.

If we can resist a Karanka style wholesale player turnover and get most of the good loans back (Colback, Wague) we can have a settled squad with not many new faces and a manager who's had 6 months to have a look at it.

We could look like strong contenders early on whilst other teams/managers take time to settle in.

It's gonna be tough but we CAN do it.

we will probably play Brentford first game of the season and beat them and then go on one hell of a run

i think £20m and 5 quality signings will do it or if we did sell Lolley and Worrall for whatever reasons and that was invested the total kitty could be £45m or 5 x £9m players, of course assuming absolute top dollar for Lolley and Worrall ie £15m and £10m
