Nottingham Forest Great European Nights Remembered
#25
Is there anyone on the forum who went to the second Leg up in Glasgow who can give us a good account of what it was like?

I didn't make the trip but I would like to hear the experience of someone who went. Cheers.

I didn't go to Glasgow but there is a gret story to be told from this match.

Former Celtic player David Hay used to have a pub in the center of Paisley, a rough and tugh area of Glasgow.

On the afternoon of the match, the doors to the pub swing open and in walks Brian Clough and his staff and all the Forest players!

Clough tells all his staff and players to sit down and goes to the bar and orders everyone one of them a beer.

Can you imagine the look on the locals faces.   :D

That's a great story Noor 1 Crew.

It reminds me of the European Cup Semi Final against Ajax in Amsterdam when the day before the match Clough and Taylor took the players for a walk around the red light district and Taylor approached a doorman at the entrance to a brothel and tried to negotiate a better price for 'group'.

Clough and Taylor were masters at relaxing the players and taking the pressure off them.

Fact:
Nottingham Forest have won the European Cup twice despite having played only 20 games in the competition – their trophies-per-game record is one that may never be broken.

Highlights of Nottingham Forest - Liverpool, European Cup 1978.

Goals from Garry Birtles and Colin Barrett gave Nottingham Forest a 2-0 victory on a historical night at the City Ground.

We did indeed and we won it when it actually mattered and meant something not like today's garbage.
