Doesn’t have to be that way and many clubs are going for the younger lesser known rather than traditional established names. The game is evolving quickly at the moment and I want us to move with it.

Cooper wasn’t a name and wasn’t in EMs book either. Believe a Spanish Portuguese or Italian will always be a better fit here in terms of personality.

Well this is because we haven't taken any managers from other teams so far under EM.

Given the amount we've burnt on random signings feels like it'd be worth investing.

It’s a good point but often because we are forced into a reactive change mid season and therefore need someone available. For one I would like us to start afresh in the summer with time to plan.

It does sometimes feel that spending £20m on a Portuguese winger is fine, £10m on paying off a sacked manager is fine but we aren’t prepared to pay a bit of compo to get a manager who is performing well in their current job.

In seriousness though - this constant churn can't be helping us to recruit a high-quality manager (let alone players).

You can argue we got lucky with appointing Pereira as he stumbled across a formula which got us playing well and kept us up. Just like we got lucky with Nuno and Cooper before him. That luck can't last forever.

I see people on Twitter clamouring for Glasner but why on earth - when his stock is so high and he could have his pick of clubs - would he come to us right now?

Yep, Glasner does seem to be the 'name' manager that's been left high and dry this summer. If he does come to us, then most pundits will be asking how better off he is leaving Palace to come to us. When he left Palace, people were suggesting he had a chance at a club like Chelsea or Liverpool. We'll be the proper booby prize for him if he ends up here.

Just when I thought things were settling down. I can only hope they have got someone agreed who they think is going to be a better long term option to come in and this isn't a case of sack now plan later.

There's being lucky to stay up and there's creating an environment that actually contributes to a situation that requires luck to survive.

Unless he's got a really world class coach lined up, Marinakis, imo, is now putting us at harm. As he did last year when he created an environment where Nuno felt he couldn't carry on and then when he made his utterly disastrous Ange appointment.
