Russell Martin appointed new Leicester manager. Hopefully he'll be as bad as he was at Rangers.

He's one of these manager's that will never deviate from his football 'principles', even if it's losing football. And an uber passing game is totally boring to watch. Who wants to see defenders passing the ball to each other on the half way line, passing it into midfield and then immediately receiving it back with the aim of not losing possession? We had that under Warburton and it bored me silly.

Also, been a while since I’ve watched any, but is passing football the best approach in the Division 3?

It astounds me how the likes of Martin keep getting hired.

I guess they think they have the quality of player to pull it off. I suppose it depends on which players they can retain. If they're remotely good at it then they're probably going to be OK. They're probably not going to have the poor squad quality we had when we were down there. So no Eugine Dadi's and John Curtis's.

Wow theres a memory and not a good one. Remember when we signed Gino Padula and we convinced ourselves he was going to be a silky skilled Argentinan wing back who would be far too good for the 3rd division? You know the rest, Makes you appreciate what we have now.

To be honest I've retained very few memories of our time down there in that shithole league. Maybe it's because I blocked out many of the poor memories! When you look back, for a club of our stature to find itself down there was just criminal. I mean it wasn't like we'd recently crashed out from the prem and through the leagues like Leicester have done, and Southampton & Sunderland did a few years ago. We have five years in the Championship before getting relegated. How badly we were run back then.

The failing to capitalise on Paul Harts exciting young team when it needed a bit of investment was the worst bit. Instead it was allowed to crumble in the space of a few months ending with bringing in Joe Kinnear and the inevitable consequence the following season.

Mark Arthur. What a tit. His local sports club has great facilities. Can't imagine where he got that equipment from. Similar fencing to the academy too

Looking back, it's almost like Doughty and Arthur were gaslighting us by telling us how lucky we were to have those two. Looking at it from today's vantage point, we were in a period of managed decline back then, where mediocrity was the norm. The owner was consistently telling us how unsustainable the club was while the likes of Wigan, Bolton and Hull were in the premier league and clubs like Brentford, Brighton and Palace were overtaking us to get there.

It stemmed from that play-off defeat to the Blades. I genuinely believe that team would have grown in the Premier League instead all the talent was sold and the rot started. |
