So did they get the better outcome?

Ha I was thinking the exact same thing this morning. Probably had less of an impact on their league campaign too.

No guarantee we'd have won that playoff game though, given how pre-season went!

Haha yes thats very true we would have been out last August for sure!

For sure we would have been better off in the Conference... But financially we are better off in the Europa League.

Next season we have a chance to finish high in the Premier League and do well in the Domestic cups as no Euro distractions and extra games.

Short term pain but mid term being out of Europe is what we need next season to build properly.

Wonder what the exact amount will be from getting where we did in the Europa

Probably enough to pay 3 managers off.

Would have been nice to have been waking up in Istanbul this morning. Hey ho.

Who are we rooting for tonight? Or are we going to visit the in laws instead?

Sour grapes but after Villa:

a) Knocked us out
b) Played such a crap team against Spurs which helped rest their players to help knock us out and might help Spurs stay up

I'm Team Freiburg tonight. Plus if Villa don't win then the Champions League place has no chance of going down to 6th in the League so that reduces the chance of Bournemouth getting it.

Bitter? Me?

All totally logical. Yep, come on Freiburg.

If it'd been a different scenario I'd have wanted Villa to win but not now, because of what I posted above.

TBH it's very rare I want the English team in Europe to win - mostly because of who those teams usually are. I didn't mind Man City winning the CL for their first time and I won't mind if Arsenal do it either. But Liverpool? Man U? Chelsea? Nah, it's much funnier to see them all lose.

There is no way Im saying come on Arsenal in the final.

I never want English teams to win in Europe now. I guess it's because the sides are all full of foreign players I no longer get the feeling the English clubs are doing it for the country. They're doing it for themselves and themselves only. They're in no way carrying a national banner. Or maybe its because the older I get, the more salty I am.

Sky scheduling our Chelsea game for a Monday when we have a Europa League semi-final on the Thursday tells you all you need to know about money influencing our game and calling the shots over any kind of national representation.
