Aston Villa - Nottingham Forest
Absolutely spineless performance.

Passive and abject.

Vitor said we were going to Villa Park to attack!!!

Villa fans were ripping this piss in the pub afterwards. Couldn’t believe how easy we made it for them from the off, we played fully into their hands. One minute folk saying these B players are mustard but then when they don’t perform point to who’s missing.

Four nil.

Shambles.

Absolutely agree with all this.

Some on here do think we're entitled to win everything but last night Vitor had his hands tied with nowhere near fit players that he had to put on the bench.

Yes there is a lot of short term thinking this morning which is understandable after last night.

But looking at the bigger picture over the last 2 months or especially the last 4 years and it has been amazing.

I love Vitor but think Silva would give us more stability and experience in the PL.
Exactly what we want and need.
That stability will allow us to build squad depth and togetherness over a period of years.
We now know you can’t just buy players and drop them in; you need to mould a squad and spirit.

Plus, if Silva could bring Harry Wilson on a free and convince a fit Antonee Robinson to join us, then he’s ahead of the game from the start.

Think it’s disappointing to have come so far in the competition not to have given a better performance when it was needed whatever the circumstances with injuries. On the other hand its made the defeat more palatable (for me at least) certainly not as traumatised as I was after play off semis.
The sadness is wondering if we will ever get the chance again.

The last 2 months has been the most enjoyable for me in the last 4 years. We just came up short against an excellent team that didn't let us breathe from minute one.

We couldn't cope with the energy or intensity that villa played with.

We go again next year with fresh hope and optimism that we can do something special again. We are not that far away.

Thought Villa were superb by the way.

Honestly I think they would have beaten anyone last night.

Their aggressive pressing was insane.

We didn't play at all for the simple fact that we weren't allowed to.

I'm mightily disappointed, but at peace with the result last night.  At the turn of the year, If we'd been offered a semi final of the Europa and prem safety with 3 games to go we'd have taken that hands down.

With no Europe next year, we can have a year of sustainable growth, hopefully a stable & worry free campaign and possibly a domestic cup run which we can commit seriously to. The players brought in last summer have eventually shown progress and we have a coach who makes players better.  There's lots to look forward to.

Hopefully we can appoint a decent director of football, any outgoing player sales can happen quickly in the summer and we can get and replacements in early, rather than at the end of September.

It was a dream that we have come so close to.

Like others on here today feels like a sad day. It reminds a bit of a victory we had in 1992 at wembley in the Zenith Data Cup. Des Walker was captain that day and we knew he was leaving at the end of the season. It was great seeing him lift the trophy but you some how knew the end of an era was coming. Although we at wembley a few weeks later we lost to manUtd in the league cup. Cloughies powers were waning. Let’s hope i am feeling unduly pessimistic today and losing Anderson et al isn’t the same. As well as feeling sad i was really annoyed with Karen Carney’s comments at half time. She is employed by an international broadcasting company who i pay a subscription to too be an impartial football expert. She described Moratto as being ‘reckless’ in his clash of heads with Watkins. That was clearly factually incorrect. It was accidental and both players had a right to go for a 50:50 ball. In claiming this She was either biased against us and therefore not impartial or incompetent and not a football expert. In any event TNT should not be employing her anymore especially on games involving us. Then i saw the coverage of Lee Hendrie goading Forest supporters. At best that was unprofessional for another so called impartial football expert employed by SKY. What clowns are these broadcasting companies employing and us paying for to be expert pundits.

I suppose that does open the door to a good league campaign if potential top 10 rivals are having to play so many extra games.

It is really tough to manage yet because of the PL's dominance right now, in the Europa/Conference Leagues, the English clubs will likely continue to dominate.

I couldn’t quite believe what I was seeing with the Lee Hendrie episode, how on earth he thought it a good idea was beyond me, some Forest fans were trying to get on the pitch to have him but he stood behind a load of stewards like some braver YouTuber surrounded by bodyguards.

His actions were reckless to the say the least and it could have caused something very serious.

I hope some day he gets his, he will fully deserve it.
