Aston Villa - Nottingham Forest

Question is.......we have to plan for penalties........which means at the end of 120 minutes you need Wood, MGW, Neco, Anderson etc... on the pitch.

So there will be some tactical decisions on formations that may change during the game.

I would start 4-5-1 and then finish the game 4-4-2

We need to see how the game develops.

We could be hanging on or we could be chasing the game and needing a goal.

That will decide who we finish the game with and which formation etc.

Hopefully there will be a fire drill after 70 minutes.

A face mask has been made for MGW. Abbott has passed concussion protocol and will be available for selection. Meetings with medical team to decide on players like Aina, Murillo, Sangare and Ndoye.

The big question is, can you drop Morato after the last 2 games?

Without wishing to jinx him I feel a lot less concerned about him having to play, if he does.

If we go to a back three then him, Milenkovic and Cunha would hopefully be fine.

Three at the back with Bakwa starting would mean we could rest Aina and save him for later in the game when we might want to be more defensive. Ultimately feels unlikely he can play 90 mins let alone 120! Problem is if you play 3 CBs, you need to take out one of MGW (may yet be enforced although sounds like he probably plays), Jesus or Hutchinson. I guess Jesus or Hutch are nice options off the bench if we want to go back to 442 in that scenario.

Or do you just start Cunha or Abbott at RB or just roll the dice on Aina!

So many questions!!

Villa 14th in the form table over 6 (prem) games. 15th over 10 games. The stats do suggest they're not the team they were in the first half of the season.

In comparison we're 1st & 7th.

Notwithstanding, it's still going to be a hugely difficult game.

Better than Bogarde, their fans are gutted.
