a) It is difficult to win matches in the Premier League. Probably even more so this season with the ambitious dealing of the 3 promoted clubs. I don’t think people appreciate this enough.
b) Europe has a deleterious effect on the league performance. We’ve only played one match but rotation / energy levels aside we lost our marquee summer signing to injury in it.
c) It takes time to integrate a significant number of signings, especially from foreign leagues. We have had to make a significant number of signings to cope with the extra demands of European football, and don’t have the luxury of time before throwing them into action.
People talk about Iraola and Glasner being ideal coaches out of our reach.
Iraola got 3 points from his first 9 league matches at Bournemouth and he’d taken over a side that had been doing well under the previous coach. 3 points from 9 matches, no wins. Conceded 20 goals.
Glasner beat Burnley in his first match, though no wins in his next 5. And the start of his first full season he was winless after 8 matches, drawing 3 and losing 5.
The modern mindset of dopamine-chasing instant gratification probably needs to pause on a Sunday and reflect on reality.

Fair points and credit where it’s due I honestly didn’t think Iraola and Glasner records were that bad especially Iraola. He must have had them in the bottom 3 then or did they already have points on board when he came? Can’t remember.
Regardless of what I think or want Ange will get more time

We are playing and competing in the best league in the world. Whats not to like?
We are also playing and competing in Europe.

Checked Iraola and they were bottom 3 in late October after 9 matches; above Sheff Utd on 1 point and a points-deducted Everton on -1.
Though he did get a win in his 4th match overall; in the Carabou Cup they won…away at Swansea :Afraid:

Well I don’t like being in the bottom 5 after the level of investment in the summer and where we finished last season. (Could be bottom 3 Monday night)
And I don’t think that’s spoilt, we have the golden glove winner a 20 goal a season striker and Englands most exciting midfielder and were potentially a few hours being in the bottom 3 ?
Sorry that isn’t spoilt I don’t expect to be Man City but I do expect for relegation not to be a concern this season.
I’m pretty sure our owner doesn’t expect it either.

Just for comparison after the last big rebuild in 23/24 some of which wasn’t the wisest we also struggled. A home draw against newly promoted Luton in game week 9 left us in 15th place and was enough for quite a few people to start calling for Cooper’s head because we apparently should have been doing better and no longer just happy to be in the league.

I agree with this. I saw a couple of comments on Facebook (not the best place for reasoned debate I know) after Burnley saying we should ditch Ange and 'get Silva or Iraola' is if they'd both be falling over themselves to leave their jobs and join us.

I'm not writing Ange or our season off. As mentioned we have seen other clubs have terrible starts and come good. You generally can't get results all season with exception to a couple of teams near the top.
My issue is that this situation was completely avoidable.

Maybe I'm misreading this but I think the anger is purely directed at the appointment of Ange, as opposed to anything to do with Nuno or the squad building. Fwiw, thought we had an excellent window (barring a bit of fullback depth which has unluckily been exposed).
The perfectly reasonable frustration is that we've come out looking exactly like Spurs did under Ange last year with potentially worse attack.
Yesterday was the same as Burnley. Anyone saying the goals conceded under Ange have been individual mistakes is ignoring the goals we didn't concede due to bad missed. Both Burnley and Sunderland had some massive chances, we narrowly edged it on xG so this idea if we'd just taken our chances is overly generous. If Sunderland and Burnley took their chances they'd have scored more too.
Betis was excellent, played really well and hopefully we see more of that. Its just tough to take and the negative comments are entirely justified in my opinion. I don't think its fair just to dismiss the anger from yesterday as an overreaction. So far in the Premier League, Ange's tactics look like they don't work. I agree with the comment above, 3 in the middle was really effective against Betis and maybe he found something with that and goes back to it (even if that means Sangare has to play!)
I would suggest based on the upcoming league fixtures this conversation isn't going to go away. Fwiw, its too late now, I don't want him to be sacked as that's the recipe for a relegation. We have to lean into it now. Doesn't mean I'm not going to be angry after every loss!
Anyway, apologies for the rant.
