Thanks for everything anyway Nuno. Onto the next one. Makes sense for him to start after Arsenal, rather than have a loss on his back straight away. Where's Gary Brazil!?

It's weird as last season was incredible, best we've had in my lifetime and Nuno did an unbelievable job, one that it doesn't appear that Cooper had in him.
And yet, due to the way he took over and my undying love for Cooper I never quite fell in love with him. I'm aware that's grossly irrational but I don't get the impression the fanbase is that fussed about Nuno, maybe not for the same reasons.

I still want to know what EM said to him in Greek on the pitch

I’ve supported Nuno but a small piece of me feels that he was reaching the outer limits of his ability and there were mistakes.
I had hoped therefore that the inevitable sacking would give us a chance to step up a league in manager terms; the same way as we did after much loved Cooper left. I’m just not sure Ange is that step change in quality.

Panic on the streets of Croydon, Derby, Sheffield, Leicestershire.
Really don't feel Ange is a step up so will be underwhelmed by this appointment, was hoping for better. Nuno was accused of having no plan B last season, but that was one of Ange's problems at spurs and he just refused to change. Not sure Europa success counts for much when you finish 17th. I know next to nothing about the rest of Ange's career though, just don't want to be the laughing stock that Tottenham were under him.

Beware Greeks bearing gaffes. And beware criticising your boss in public. It all feels such a waste, losing Nuno. Kept Forest up, transformed atmosphere at the City Ground, won at Anfield, battered Brighton, got Forest 7th, into Europe, nominated for LMA PL Manager of the Year, and two of his players in the PFA Team of the Year (Sels, Wood). Deserved backing not sacking by the owner. Marinakis has done plenty of good at Forest, investing in the squad, clearly passionate about football. But he has to bear much of the responsibility for the breakdown in his relationship with one of the best managers Forest have had in years. Nuno's also culpable for this sad outcome - it was provocative to speak out so negatively about his relationship with Marinakis. Nuno collecting his cards was on the cards then, especially with headlines about him wanting Traore and tensions with Edu, especially with lingering frustration over the way last season ended, drawing at home to relegated Leicester, fading out of CL picture. Nuno still got Forest in Europe which few predicted at the start of the season. Nuno is a loss. Players liked him, Anderson talked about how he’d improved him, fans loved him. When Marinakis sacked Cooper, many fans felt aggrieved. Marinakis appointed Nuno who revived Forest's fortunes. Nuno’s successor has plenty of good players to work with and plenty of pressure. He has to do better than seventh. And has to keep Marinakis onside. And Forest fans remain on a rollercoaster. #NFFC

Don’t forget Spurs fans said Nuno was rubbish and laughed at us having him. Same Spurs that had Conte, Mourinho and a number of other high profile managers over the years, all of whom pretty much failed there. Whilst big Ange wouldn’t have been my preference and concerned whether his style suits us it’s probably best we ignore the Spurs fans and wait to see how he does. We might all be pleasantly surprised as were lose who initially didn’t want Nuno. |
