Real shame for the guy that is. In his opening few games he looked to have a bit about him.

I've never known a club to consistently ruin players with injuries as much as we do.

Was Soudani always an injury risk?

He's 31 years old, has a game style that's susceptible to injury & looking at his recent injury history, in the last 3 years, prior to joining us, he'd missed 177 days, meaning he'd been out about 16% of the time, in the last 2 years, prior to joining us, 121 days, about 16.5% of the time, & in the last 450 days, before joining us, 96 days, 21% of the time.

In comparison Daryl Murphy has missed 120 days, through injury, or about 5% of the time, in the last 6 years, & Joe Lolley has missed 138 days, or about 9% of the time, in the last 4 years.

The figures may be flawed, as they are lifted from a website & I'm purely speculating on this, but given Soudani has already had a 42 day absence here & is now deep into a 2nd long term injury with us, that's going to stretch past 160 days, it does make you wonder.

We need to be doing our homework better don't we?

I think part of the issue with Grabban is naming him on the bench. Particularly now with bonatini and Karim back it would make more sense surely to rest him until it heals? Unless they’re just accepting it’s not going to heal till the summer now?

If Yates is ahead of Yacob in midfield,  I dont see much of a future for him under Martin. Colback to come fir the next game nd depending on injury to Gueddy ... make the inclusion of Yacob...very remote now...a shame...with the arrivals of the three central defenders, even a place there is almost  out of the question now...

I think we've put ourselves in a position where that was the only solution.

Through bad recruitment we left ourselves with no cover, so instead of a full break which would have been better for recovery purposes we had to manage the injury & game time instead.

It's one of the reasons I've been annoyed by people getting on Martin O'Neill's back about this.

This issue first surfaced in August, he wasn't fit to do the full 90 against Bristol city & missed the Birmingham game, so there was forewarning, before the summer transfer window shut & yet we loaned/sold Brereton (yes I know that was a 50/50 thing, with faults on both sides) & loaned out Tyler (because...) which left only Murphy as cover, before bringing in Ansarifard, a move that didn't sit well with the owners, & considering his scheduled absence at the Asian cup it was a move that didn't ultimately provide the cover we needed.

It really wasn't that much of a surprise when Grabban broke down again & instead of giving him the ideal rehabilitation our hand was forced & we had to manage the injury, instead of fixing it properly.

It's not that dissimilar to our issues in defence, we really did create a position where we could have broken Grabban & left ourselves with the 35 year old Murphy, who can't play 46 games a season & with no cover.

Martin really shouldn't be getting flack for trying to manage a problem he inherited, however from the most recent updates I do think we've now decided we do have to manage it through until summer (we've missed the ideal opportunity to fix it properly), although hopefully with good management & because of his already managed game time, there should be improvements & therefore the opportunity for starts & to play 90 minutes sometimes, as long as we're guided by medical advice & allow for breaks when, or if necessary.

£25 million spent with no cover for striker, CH or LB positions.  No experienced winger.  No ACM cover.

At least it was addressed to some degree in the Jan' transfer window.  Signings for the spine where Forest were being bossed and bullied as well as getting hammered with crosses all season long they couldn't defend.

By previous measurements, Martin's deployment of playing staff has been a revelation and incisive.

Not Forest related but I see Andy King is now out for the season. Talk of him coming here at one point so we dodged a bullet for once.

Matty Cash had returned to training last week and Forest had hoped he would be fit to play a part at Stoke.

But, after a few days back on the grass, he felt some pain in his Achilles again, according to Martin O’Neill.

The manager does also hope that Matty will be able to train today, however - and that he has a chance of being involved, on some level, against Hull.

Hope he's ok for Hull.  He's direct.  Energetic.  Can score goals.
