Nobody drops out of the league stage. Oly are straight into the Champions League league stage so they can't drop anywhere. They either qualify for the last eight or the playoffs or they're out. 

Anyone dropping into the Europa League will have dropped out of CL qualifying and I don't even know if teams do drop now. Oly don't need to qualify - they're directly into the 36 team league.

Yes but Oly go straight into the league phase of the Champions League. They don't have to go through the qualifying round.

I thought the UCL format was now top 8 straight through, 16 then battle for the remaining 8 places and bottom 8 out.

Those who lose the play off go into Europa or am I wrong?

The playoff is after the league phase. If you lose it you're out.

Article in the Telegraph today about the Palace situation. No new info but the one telling line is 'Forest believe the Europa League place should be theirs.' So things could get interesting if UEFA bend their own rule to allow Palace in.
