Not afraid to give a bollocking either! Good talker. Generally a really cool customer but can mix it. All for this…

What's the consensus on MGW this summer? Do we want him to be sold if he refuses to sign a new deal? I mean we could hit September and he signs straight away at that point.
I'm getting the overriding impression most would prefer him to be sold if we got a good fee. I don't feel like I have a strong opinion either way but I know he'd definitely be missed.

Firstly I'm not a fan of instability as we've seen what that did to us season 1 and 2 and the difference it made been more settled last season. Secondly we couldn't buy an unproven replacement, we aren't in the CL and it would be expensive. We need a few more goals out of him but he is getting better every season. My initial thought was he wanted the move to make the world cup squad in America next year. If he doesn't go this summer he will sign a new deal for sure. Tough one with regards to PSR ect but remember how buzzing we all were when he got called up for his first England cap.

I'd like the money, he won't sign a new deal. His value is high, he has 2 years left and he has us by the balls if we don't sell now.
Unless it looks likely he will sign I'd sell now its our last chance for a big fee.

What’s everyone’s thoughts on Sangare. Did he do enough to be kept?

Yes, but I will caveat that doesn’t mean we don’t need to sign an upgrade into midfield that is starting X1 standard. Sangare works better in a 4-3-3. Our 5 midfielders - Danilo, Yates, Anderson, Sangare and Domingues only scored 4 Premier League goals between them. Liverpool - centre mids 15 goals Arsenal - 18 goals Man City - 17 goals Newcastle - 14 goals Villa - Villa 12 goals In a nutshell we need to sign a high quality box to box midfielder who can get us 6 + goals a season, and Anderson also needs to be weighing in with similar numbers.

Thought he played well in the last few games to a point, however we did also notably play a lot worse in the last few games. So it's not like he came in and improved the team. I am very much yet to be convinced, definitely an area in the team we can improve.

Off the top of my head a few examples are Caicedo/Macallister @ Brighton, Toni@Brentford, Rice@West Ham, Mitrovic@Fulham, Olise@Palace. Those clubs probably havent improved after losing their star but you could argue they're no worse off. The trouble for me though is that MGW is so important for us, will the entire show collapse without him, like we did back in the day when Collymore buggered off? I suppose it depends on who comes in with the money. If you swap your Collymore for a Silenzi then you're doomed. I suppose it's only stable clubs who can regulary sell players and then regenergate & repeat. Are we there yet? |
