Calvin Wilson talked about things from a players perspective on Forest Focus yesterday. Said that if the club are selling themselves to prospective players this summer then their priortities will always be the promise of a push for a champions league place rather than winning the conference league. In fact he said that the players might actually be pissed off at the prospect of playing Thursday/Sundays.

At least they won't be faking back injuries though.

We probably need to be honest that Wood, Aina, MGW, Murillo, Milenkovic, Elanga, CHO were all playing through injuries by the end of it.
We had 12 players that played over 1900 minutes each.
The other 11 played less than 1000 minutes each. That’s also another problem
Also Anderson for however good he is played as many minutes this season as the last 3 combined, he was always subbed off until the end part of the season where he’s played 90 mins most of the time it’ll make him stronger next season and they would have loaded him for every game but I bet he’s knackered
In fact even with an injury wood hasn’t played as many minutes since being at Leeds 8 years ago
Aina doubled the minutes he played for us last year and most since he’s played for hull 7 years ago

Englands first game is 2 weeks on Thursday, not sure when the camp begins I assume he may have jetted off for some sun for 10 days at least
Tournament lasts til June 28th, our friendly match schedule started 13th July can’t remember when day 1 of preseason was maybe 7th july so he’ll get an extended rest like Morgan did. In the matches he’s played for the u21s this season in the 3 blocks of 2 games he’s started one and been on bench the other. Will he start in the tournament from day 1 though?

That's it Papp. I don't think a lot of people realise the reality of how players think. More work for the same money, more time away from your family and no additional profile for playing in the tournament.
With regards to Sals bullet points there's a lot of factors there that I agree with and only people within will truly know.
The most obvious reason for me is the injuries our best players were carrying, lack of business in January and Nuno's resistance to play beyond the 12/13 players he trusts.
The game management was questionable towards the end of the season but we probably only noticed that because our best players stopped firing. The same game management was considered genius when we were winning. Which probably opens the door for the plan B bullet points and teams sussing us out.
We all would have took 7th at the start of the season but this will always be the season remembered as the one where we should have finished in the top 5.
The progress we made was a joy to watch until the end but I do fear the instability this might bring going into next season.

Would they not get more money if they have win/appearance/goal or whatever terms in their contracts though?
Also, and this is me being picky here, but why *should* we have finished in the top five? We have no divine right. We were 16th and 17th the seasons before. We had the chance to finish in the top five but we weren't able to take it.

They definitely would, generally speaking everything I've seen is that players don't like it when they get rotated for the Euro and cup games.
If we make the league stage I presume we'll rotate a fair bit anyway.

Nah you aren't being picky, we had no right to even dream it at the start of the year. But the reason we should have finished in the top 5 is because of the position we were in for just under 200 days. I really don't care about the CL but I fear a summer of instability followed by a difficult campaign due to the decline.
Some players will get adds ons but what I'm getting at is it might not be the profile they want for quite a heavy sacrifice workload wise.
We need realistic and sensible recruitment this summer. I'm not going on like the football grim reaper but we need to make the right moves for sure.

If footballers don't want to play on a Thursday and Sunday then they shouldn't be footballers.
They should change profession.

Fair enough. And I agree next season will be a challenge. Top half again would be great I think.

Cats out the bag sniffer, alot of modern day top level footballers are overpaid, overpampered self serving divas.
I'm not saying my opinion I'm saying how I think a lot of the players will think.
