Apparantly if Chelsea were to win the Conference League and finish 6th, then there would be 3 teams in the Europa League and 9 English clubs in Europe, which would mean 9th gets Conference League

Yes, we all wanted the Champions League but the main reasons were the extra money (60m more than Europa League) and more chance of holding on to MGW, Murillo and CHO. In some ways the Europa League is a better fit for us. There is no way we win Champions League and are not certain we would be good enough to get into top 5 next season. The Europa League, gives us 3 transfer windows to upgrade the team and if we win Europa League, we qualify for Champions League 26/27 with a much better squad.

I've had some time to get over the disappointment of yesterday and the last few weeks. I woke up this morning thinking 'we are in Europe'! I know we have been tempted with Champions League this season, and that we are petering out, but in the cold light of day, we have done an incredible job to be where we are. I'm sure everyone of us on this site would have laughed if we were told that we would be playing any European football at all next season if asked in August last year.

What a season overall! Hope the whole crowed rises as one to applaud the whole team and staff at the final whistle against Chelsea. They absolutely deserve it.

This does give us another path into the Europa League too. 

If we finish 7th, Palace win FA Cup and Chelsea finish 6th and win conference league, 7th would get Europa League and there'd be no conference League team.

I was thinking that earlier. Before the game I said 7 points required from the last 3 games, inclusive of a win over Chelsea. We could still do that really. Unlikely but possible.

But realistically, can anyone see this side winning two games on the bounce? We're just not in that kind of form atm.

Why are some people fretting about which European competition we're in already ???? We are still able to get into the Champions League if we can get the results we want so don't panic just yet as theres still 2 games to be played. So its all to play for people.

* I just wait for the glass half empty readers for the obvious we're playing shite and will lose everything replies rather than being optimistic bunch which I'm a fully paid up member of.
