Blackburn possibly an option too?

I reckon the top talent will be reluctant to go there now. Cooper is on his last lifeline now. He'll probably get a Sunderland/Boro/West Brom job next but if that move fails then his reputation will be in tatters.

Why is he on his last lifeline?  

He got Swansea to the playoffs against the odds

He got us promoted against the odds

He kept us in the Premier against the odds

He had Lesta outside the relegation zone against the odds.

Megson, Warnock and Hughton have all done those things with teams too.

It's a funny old game.

He's tainted now at the top level. No prem team will appoint him regardless of whether he deserved to be sacked by us and Leicester or not. He's got one last shot at a decent, upper championship club I reckon. Get sacked there and he's joining the mediocre managerial merry go round and competing with the likes of Rowett for the Millwall job, for example.

A bit harsh. He has been a manager for nearly 10 years and you could argue his only unsuccessful spell was with us at the start of the 23/24 season although there were mitigating circumstances there too.
To say he has one last shot is clearly wrong, for whats its worth Swansea think he is out of their reach.

Premier League is another matter. Similar to what we were saying about Moyes, if his name was Esteban Coopreé people would be salivating about his record. He did play some over pragmatic stuff with us but then people for some strange reason wanted Lopetegui, who errr….played pragmatic football.
Agree though for PL the expectation at pretty well every club is that they ping the ball around on the grass and abandon the tactics that got them promoted in the first place. For that reason his best bet is back to the Championship.

Well I was quoting facts based on recent history when it was suggested that he was “on his last lifeline”

Let’s take a look at Megson, he last got a notable promotion in 2003/04. He then managed for a further eight years across Forest, Leicester, Bolton and Sheffield Wednesday, achieving nothing. 

Chris Hughton came to us between Brighton and Ghana, he was terrible here but could still easily get a job at Championship or League One level. 

Not sure why the need to do Steve down, it’s completely baffling.

It was a really poor decision by him going to Leicester. Every man and his dog could see that would never work for him. I suppose people were saying that though when he joined us.
