Hopefully they'll be demoralised after their drubbing against Man City.
But also hopefully they won't bounce back like we did after a recent drubbing!

This would be an absolute belter to win, especially with our slightly ropey win ratio against teams in top half.
Their midfield has been impressive until last 3 games. Ando needs to play his normal game, not try to do too much as will be quite emotional for him. Easier said than done for a young lad going back home.

I'm hoping it being an away match might work in our favour. In the home fixture even when we went ahead we seemed to be chasing the game too much and they beat us at our own game. The onus will be on them to attack at home - specially given their recent results - so hopefully we can pick them off on the counterattack.

Joelinton being out is a big boost for us.
He is a physical powerhouse for them, who we couldn’t handle in the home game. There is also the feeling amongst their fans, that with the League Cup Final being around the corner, the mimdset of their players is not to get injured before the final. We have to be brave, CHO and Elanga to start in this one

Dreading this one.
Think we will get absolutely mullered.

Be tempted to bring Yates or Dominguez back in for this one and leave Dani on the bench plus CHO to start and go back to a back four.
Lets get back to what was working so well for us before.

I would go to a back 4 and dominguez in for Danilo, CHO for Morato. Looking forward to the game, it will be a very open one I think.

Couldn't agree more. Of course, 3-4-3 & Danilo worked incredibly against Brighton, but it didn't at the weekend and I just don't think it's the game for Danilo (or Sangare). Against Tonali & Guimaraes, I think we should go with Anderson & Dominguez, but I'd also have Yates ahead of Danilo for this one. We were brilliant in the 2nd half at their place last season, but aside from that, Howe has had our number each time since promotion. We have to be smart as they'll use every dirty trick in the book. Hopefully we catch them at a good time & it's not the typical reaction teams have against us after they've had a bad one. Huge match. Feeling very nervous already.

We got overrun in midfield in the home game in November and general consensus was that our midfield of Yates and Dominguez (as suggested above) was bullied.
Not sure what the answer is, don’t think a back 3 is the answer, possibly matching their 433 may help but that would mean sacrificing CHO or Elanga for Anderson and possibly playing MGW as a wide forward which isn’t his best position. Whichever dont think repeating what failed last time is the best move. |
