Exeter City - Nottingham Forest
Yes 5 or 6 in that team last night would struggle to get in a bottom of the league PL side. If you want names, the entire starting back 5 including Moreno on that form. Not a huge criticism, most teams have weaker players, I wouldn’t want any of Tottenham’s current fit defenders.

As to protecting our team. What most of us were saying is that we wanted Nuno to pick a team strong enough to play cohesively and win in 90 minutes but at the same time protecting our key players, Wood and Gibbs White from having to come on the pitch at any point.
We got precisely the opposite. Dont see why its so hard to understand the criticism. Nobody is saying woe is me we’re going to get relegated. If you just want to say everything is wonderful there is no point in this forum.

Dont agree that the state of the pitch was a significant excuse. We were rattled by a poor league 1 team playing with 10 men. We eventually got away with it. Learn from it and don’t make the same mistakes again.

Fianlly welll done Exeter your team played out thier skins.

You're talking about last night's team, the original post seemed to make out that our first XI had 5 or 6 such players.

And FWIW I don't agree that last night's team are that bad either. They played badly for sure. The two full-backs didn't have great games and Miguel clearly didn't either. I wouldn't say that one game makes them 'bottom of the league fayre' though. Just like a couple of assists doesn't make Sangare a world-beater.

None of the starting 11 are poor. I don’t think either Miguel or Moreira are ready. The rest are all good enough to play a part. The problem is when you start all of these bit part players together it doesn’t click.
People are forgetting that we are over achieving and we were mostly tipped for relegation. To expect all 25 of our squad to be at the same level is unrealistic. That last nights side struggled was entirely predictable. All that said we played very well first half in my opinion.

Yes - would agree that Miguel and Moreira could both use loans to better acclimatise to English football.

Jesus the melt downs on here weee hilarious. A touch of the Charlton’s if I ever saw one. We are better than this… blah blah blah. It’s the magic of the cup and it was always going to be a tough game. Pitch. Conditions. We always ask can they do it on a rainy cold night in Exeter? The answer was yes. Was it pretty? No. Did players have bad games. Yes. Are they bad players? Not even remotely.

Nuno picked the team I would have and also took off Danilo when I would have and I am managerial genius which makes Nuno the same. Stop bloody whining. It’s football. It’s the nature of the game. We were playing against another team of professionals. It happens. We are through. I put it down to a learning experience and Exeter played well.

Bunch of cry babies.

Onto Fulham and probably lesson learnt. Pity about Taiwo. He looked good in the first half. Nobody bothered passing to him in the second. Feel for the lad.

Has anyone said everything is wonderful? I think everyone agrees the performance wasn't great. Just seems some people have gone overboard on the criticism. The point of a forum is to debate things and share your own view? Not everyone has to agree with what you are saying in terms of team selection.

Nobody has to agree. Just don’t call it having a meltdown, comedy gold, cry babies etc when people are expressing a valid viewpoint.

Does the Ref know what a foul is. How many times they fell over and got a free kick was embarrassing. It isn't good play it was cheating. Also the Yellow card Williams got it should've been the other way round.

So to sum up after reading the thread we have a 23 man squad of which 11 of them are shit yet we are third in the PL.

If that is not comedy gold then what is?

Personally I think some of the comments on here have been a bit OTT. Yes of course everyone is entitled to their opinions but to consign a chunk of our squad to the dustbin on the back of two matches (acknowledging that we weren't great against Luton either, despite winning) seems premature and reactionary.

We'll see what these players are really made of over the coming weeks.

5th round of the cup with a favourable home tie against a team we've already beaten this season who will be focused on staying in the league as a priority so will undoubtedly make changes and third in the prem.

We move forward with great optimism.
